Snow Peak GigaPower Lantern, Manual Ignition - 2007

Say hello to the world's smallest and lightest lantern of its kind. The GigaPower Lantern with manual ignition throws out a best-of-class 80W, and holds up well in low temperatures. This lantern burns brightly until it completely runs out of gas because even when used continuously, vaporization heat doesn't cause its output to drop. Made of stainless steel wire, the light control spindle is foldable, and its spring structure is designed for safety so that it remains continuously level without leaning toward the flame. Even with a globe fitted [SNO0025], the volume of light emitted may be controlled with fine precision. The ventilator is integrated with the guard wire that holds the globe in place and clamps to claws on the underside of the grounding plate for easy replacement of globe and mantle. Comes with one mantle.

Bottom Line: A little guy that throws out huge candle power.

Japanese lantern

I love Snow Peak. I've always wanted a micro lantern but always worried about how to pack a glass globe in an overstuffed bag. Snow Peak solves the problem by engineering a lantern, like the Gigapower stove, that packs down into a sturdy, small plastic box with negligible weight penalty. Beside being packable, this little nightlight is super bright, and has a wide range of adjustment and is pretty frugal with the gas too. This is just as jewel-like as any other Snow Peak mechanical and uses the same threaded canisters. Highly recommended if you are looking for an ultralight gas-powered lantern. Look no further.

great little lantern

Perfect backpacking lantern. Small, lightweight, bright, and easy to light - just screw it in an isobutane canister, turn it on, and light it up. It's a perfect compliment to my MSR Pocket Rocket. The white thing in the background of the picture is a case and it provides suffient protection against breaking the glass globe and I've even managed to stuff two extra mantles in there as well. If I had to guess, I would say that a 110 gram canister lasts probably 8 to 10 hours but I didn't really sit down and time it closely. Just a great overall lantern.
