Smith Knowledge OTG Turbo Fan Series Goggles - Mirror Lens
The large sized Smith Knowledge OTG Turbo Fan Goggles with a Mirror Lens fit easily over your glasses, and a micro-electric fan helps prevent fogging. With a mirror lens, these goggles increase depth perception and cut down on glare. The silent, lightweight fan has a low speed for cruising, and a high speed to keep your goggles clear while you're sweating up a storm in the backcountry. The Knowledge OTG Turbo Fan Goggles' DriWix face foam won't get wet and slippery. See the sizing chart for information on lens tints.
Bottom Line: Smith's Knowledge OTG Turbo Fan Goggles with a Mirror Lens—wearing glasses under your goggles doesn't mean a day of foggy blindness anymore.
These goggles worked fairly well. I still had some fogging on the glasses I wear but not on the goggles themselves. The battery lasted a long time considering I used it on 2 days where the temp started at minus 9. The lens are good when overcast, but way too clear for any sun like conditions. However, when I used my prescription sun glasses it worked perfect. Allows me to switch back and forth easily on partly cloudy days.
Pull the top of the goggle up while holding the bottom steady. The lens should separate from the body. This is the hardest part, so if straight pulling doesn't work for you, try hooking your nails under the front side of the top of the goggle, and pry. Then remove from the bottom. It is held in by some hooks, feels like it won't come out sometimes, but it will. Putting in, just snap into the bottom, and pull the top over the lens and push down.
The fan is wonderful just a slide of the switch wait a couple of seconds and the fog is gone! Glad I spent a little extra for this option, well worth it!
Ignitor or Sensor Mirror BTW i live in Washington and we have mostly cloudy days until spring season skiing.. And what is a better lense for all year long
Ignitor is more of a medium to high light day lens, and Sensor is a low, flat to medium lens. I would rather have a lens that is good for the bad days, and not as good on the good days instead of something that is useless on the bad days, so I would recommend the Sensor.
I've used these bad boys 3 times thus far and they perform well--at night, and in partly cloudy and cloudy conditions. I have not used them on a sunny day yet.
But, with my current helmet, they push down on my big nose and affect my breathing. If I can't get the right helmet combo, I'll need to return these puppies to BC.com.
Compare your glasses to a pair of normal goggles and see how they would fit inside. Unless you have massive glasses it should be fine, these goggles have some extra room for glasses.
I don't think I have excessively large glasses-- I have some older OTG goggles that fit my old and new glasses, but both pair hit the lens on these with enough pressure to make them uncomfortable (and would damage the lens.) I had to return them, which was not a problem.
I wear polarized glasses and would like to wear these over them. Do they come with a clear lens. I wear them fishing in florida. Do to eye surgery my eyes leak and are worse in the wind. So I am looking for goggles to wear fishing offshore.
I don't believe you can buy them stock with clear lenses but I do believe that Smith sells them for this particular goggle. These would be great goggles for fishing and as a cover-up for your glasses. Smith goggles are always super comfortable too. You'll love 'em!Hope that helps.
I have to disagree with what eri2807363 mentioned in his review. I have a pretty large head and wide glasses. I also tend to overheat very quickly resulting in never having been able to wear goggles while skiing before. My previous OTG goggles were pretty worthless to me (and smaller than these). I've been night skiing four times so far with these goggles and they've worked almost 100% of the time. There was only one instance where I actually had to take them off when I made the mistake of trying to ski slightly uphill and they just wouldn't unfog.
I will say that the headstrap is definitely too small to fit over a helmet (which I currently don't own--though I have a larger than average head). Also, after the first time I used it, I mistakenly left the fan switch to "on" so the batteries obviously died when I next needed to use them. So that's certainly something to keep in mind.
Overall, these goggles have been great. After never having been able to wear goggles before, these were a lifesaver.
I bought these for my husband who tried them out last Sunday... he loved them. He was able to see well and with his glasses on all the time under the goggles they did not fog up... What a plus!!! he really likes them and will conitnue with these great goggles he highly recommends them
