SmartWool Sport NTS T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's
Wearing a cotton shirt in sketchy, shoulder-season weather, and you're asking Mother Nature to take you out back and kick your ass. Unlike cotton, the Smartwool Sport NTS T-Shirt will not get cold and clingy, or hot and sticky, ever. It doesn't stink, it doesn't shrink, it doesn't itch, and it doesn't care if you wear it or not. But we do, because we like you and we want your outdoor pursuits to continue. Flatlock stitching and a streamlined cut make the Sport NTS perfect for everything from trail running to tennis. And with Smartwool's high-performance Merino wool next to your skin, it's unlikely we'll find you shivering in the woods or passed out from heat stroke on the court. So pick one up, wear it, and tell your friends you heard the woolen wisdom right here, from the man inside your computer.
Bottom Line: Stay warm enough to run when the men in white coats arrive.
Actually, I use the Smartwool as my only layer in the summer when hiking. It gets filled with sweat, but wicks well and does not make me feel overheated. In fact, I prefer to wear the soft merino wool on my body as compared to a poly T-shirt. So I would actually recommend it highly. Also, when caught in the rain, I throw my rain jacket over the already wet wool T-shirt and it insulates very well.
I've wore this shirt on strenuous hikes beginning in the cool morning (~50 degF) and ending in the warm afternoon (~80 degF). It regulated my temperature perfectly. It's slim enough to wear as an inner layer and stylish enough to wear on its own. At the end of the day, it doesn't reek like a synthetic will. I've washed it twice without shrinking.

I am exclusively Smartwool as my base layer now days. This is a high end version that works well soaking up sun in the winter months on desert rock. Does not catch as bad as the basic product of Smartwool I mostly use and quite a bit heavier and durable as well. Would be to warm in the desert summer though.
I've been on a kick to buy more wool shirts in particularly merino wool. I bought a couple of these SmartWool Sport NTS T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve shirts, since I aleady owned a couple smartwool undershirts. These are a bit thicker but just as comfortable as the others. Aside from the shirts keeping me warm for everyday use, they're also washer and dryer safe! Can't beat that, wool, warm, comfortable, and I can through them in the wash with the rest of my clothes too.
I added this to my cycling wardrobe, along with some long sleeve smartwool zip tees. I like the nice, tailored fit of this one. I add this on the colder mornings when I want two wool base layers.
driving wind, vacillating between sweating on the uphills and rapid I have long wanted to be able to wear wool base layers for bicycling, but I am extremely sensitive to the itchiness of wool next to my skin. I tried an IceBreaker base layer on and immediately had to take it off due to the itchiness. The SmartWool Sport NTS short sleeve causes me no problems, and performs fantastically - so much so that I often wear it daily under street clothes.
I liked it so much I immediately purchased the long sleeve version. I've worn them for five sweating days, and they have not become odiferous. I eventually wash them not because of odor but because I think they MUST need washing for reasons of hygiene. Yesterday, riding hills in cold, cooling on the downhills - throughout it all they kept me comfortable. Very, very highly recommended.
Smart wool is the best stuff next to your skin. I wear ultrlight and light weight when I am backpacking, canoeing, camping and fightinf wildfires. Since it is natural and not synthetic it has a much higher tollerance around fires. I have lots of othe gear with sparks holes in it. My wife love the zip turtle neck smart wool sweater. I finally had to give up and buy another because she always wore mine, even if it was too big. I am an avid outdoor photographer and like a spot of red in my photos. I finally found a red smart wool t-shirt and bought it on the spot. Wear smart wool and you will love it!
I bought this T-shirt to work out in, and it has not let me down. Unlike other products no fear of odd odors and very durable to withstanding constant use and continuous laundering.
