Excellent ski sock!

%-Star is right. Low volume sock that allows me to really feel my insole and boot. I have always loved really thin ski socks, and now that I can wear thin wool socks it's even better. Great wicking for long BC tours. Nothing like putting on a brand new pair, so get a few!

They'll fall a bit higher than mid calf (depending on how long your legs are). They'll come up just a bit higher on your leg than an average ski boot.

Bought one then two more

I started out the day with a far to heavey ski sock. My foot was loosing circulation. So i headed into the pro shop and asked for a recommendation. He said the PSIA was in the other day and bought all of the these socks and he just go more in. So i bought a pair. They are very thin yet kept my feet warm in 20 degree weather. My boots fit great and i was even able to tighten them a bit. I liked them so much i bought 2 more pairs a day later.

This is the only sock I wear to ski. Super warm, paper thin, moisture wicking, and smell resistant thanks to the organic merino wool. I have tried other socks and they aren't as warm and STANK. If you have custom fitted boots, do your feet the favor of wearing these socks.

how thin is this sock. their cushion light model is pretty thick, perhaps the cushion designation indicates that. I want something not a whole lot thicker than nylons, suuuuper thin that is.

Hello, SmartWool here. The PhD Skiing Ultra Light is more like the thickness of a liner sock. It is very light and fit great under tight ski boots.

This is the ONLY sock I wear to ride. Super thin, super warm, super comfy. They don't stink after a day on the mountain either, thanks to the merino wool. Basically, if you have custom fitted boots do yourself the service of getting these socks. Your boots will never fit better.

Great warm socks

By:

Great socks for cold weather. Wore them in below zero temps. Didn't give them a 5 because they were too warm for me despite their thinness and antipersperant. Try 'em out. Price is right and quality is great.

amazing socks

These socks are amazing. They are so comfy and keep my feet warm and dry.
The reason thin socks keep your feet warmer than thick socks (or two pairs of socks) is because the thin sock will wick away more moisture from your foot. when there is moisture in your boot, it makes your feet cold. thin socks prevent this.
I can wear these in my stinky sneakers for 3 days straight with no stink. I hand wash them (I don't have a laundry machine so this is faster, but I machine wash them when I do laundry) and they are dry within a few hours. I have one pair, but I wish I had a lot of them so I can wear them everyday.
