SmartWool PhD Ski Mid Sock

The Smartwool PhD Ski Mid Sock just became more durable with Smartwool's WOW technology; Wool on Wool means an extra layer of wool on those high impact zones for more long-lasting performance. More wool means less nylon, making the Smartwool PhD Ski Mid Sock a doctoral frontrunner indeed.

Bottom Line: A classic ski sock becomes even more sustainable.

Great Ski Sock

By:
October 30, 2009

I have two pair of these and love them. My feet are much more comfortable after a long day in the ski boots. They're even great for BC skiing and skinning. They pad all the right places and aren't too bulky, but are still nice and warm. Combine them with sock liners and my feet are in heaven. Can't recommend enough.

They have also proven to be durable over the past couple seasons. I turn them inside out and avoid putting them in the dryer when I can. I have put them in the quite a few times and they were still just fine, but I avoid it just to be safe.

I have size 12/eur 46-47 feet and the XL was just perfect.

PhD Well Deserved

Great sock for everyday skiing. Good padding to help fight the fight against shin bang, and warm enough for pretty much everyday of the season. Wick sweat efficiently.

It seems like, in my experience anyway, smartwool can do no wrong. These are padded where they should be and not padded where they shouldn't be. My feet stay warm and toasty but never get sweaty. Comfortable feet are worth the extra few dollars.

Warm and Dry

By:
October 28, 2009

Smartwool socks are the absolute best for keeping your feet warm and dry during all days sessions at the resort or in the backcountry. I have always worn Smartwool midweight socks with the extra padding in the shin and heel.....and I hopefully will never have to change. These are best....totally recommend them.

smart socks

These socks hold their shape well and stay up around your calf. I can hardly tell the toe seam is there. The heel fits nicely, too. Nice warm, wool socks, that wick very well. Just enough padding in the shin area. These are my favorite ski socks. I have a few pairs of PhD midweight socks, and they're always my first picks after laundry day.

Perfect socks

By:
December 30, 2008

I have these and the PhD snowboard socks (which aren't sold here). I am a snowboarder, but both work great. Very soft, comfortable, and wicks moisture extremely well. I have 19" calves and these come all the way over them and stay put while maintaining comfort. These are way better than the Burton socks I had before.

Just awesome socks in general, they let your feet breathe so they don't get all funky. They are warm and soft and fit a ski boot really well.

I would recommend this sock to others, I think SmartWool makes quality products.

This was a nice sock that fit my foot well but my ski boot has such a tight fit the midweight was too thick and my boot didn't work right.
