SmartWool Microweight Zip T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Wear the SmartWool Men's Microweight Zip-T for stop-and-go aerobic activities or as a warm base layer. SmartWool's porous natural fibers move moisture while it's still in vapor form, so you remain dry and comfortable throughout your alpine foray. SmartWool fiber is highly adaptable to a broad range of conditions. It keeps you warm when you rest and cool when your heart's pounding. This naturally odor-resistant shirt features a ½-length Zip-T collar for ventilation control. Flatlock-seam construction reduces chafing, and an active fit allows for bulk-free layering that doesn't inhibit your freedom of movement.

Bottom Line: The Microweight Zip-T deals out serious thermoregulation.

great top

This is one of the only things that lasted the entire East coast on my Appalachian Trail hike. I never had any issues with it, and it was comfortable and warm. When I wasn't in the freezing cold hiking, they made for great PJ's

Nice base-layer.

By:
December 31, 2008

Great base-layer, I use it for cycling and skiing. I'm 6'4", 195 lbs., with especially long arms, but the Large fit fine. It's just a tad short in the arms (but longer than I expected) and nice and long through the mid-sections so it tucks in nicely. As others have posted, it doesn't get stanky at all. I've worn it 15-20 times now, have yet to wash it, and I can't smell a thing, nothing. Zipper is nice too. I only have a couple of minor complaints. 1) occasionally it feels slightly itchy, usually when I stop doing whatever I'm doing. I'm sensitive to other wool products, but this is not that bad at all. Once you generate a little perspiration, it seems to go away. 2) for a "mid-weight" layer, I thought it would be a bit thicker/warmer. These are minor complaints though as it's not that itchy and it is warm enough as a base-layer. Just make sure you have a nice warm mid-layer for skiing on those really cold days. These two minor complaints kept me from giving it 5 stars, but all in all, highly recommended.

I'm 6', 175 lbs and was given a Smartwool crew neck pullover

I'm 6', 175 lbs and was given a Smartwool crew neck pullover a while back and basically like it but thoought that it ran a little large. I'd have liked it to be more form fitting. What sizes do you all have and what would you recommend for this particual item? Thanks!

A medium would work if you remember to only wash it in cold. I'm 6', 160 lbs and the medium fits (whith a little room to spare). But... if you wash it in warm or hot water, you're screwed.

Smartwool is GREAT!

By:
February 13, 2009

I love Smartwool and it shows. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it is the best clothing for here. I have on SMartwool long john, t-shirt, zip turtle neck sweater, sock and hat. I have lots of Smartwool socks, shirts, sweaters and hats. Between backpacking, wildernes canoeing, camping and fighting wildfires, I spend between two and three months a year in a tent or under a tarp. I always am wearing something msde by Smartwool. It is great stuff.

My San Francisco wardrobe

By:

SF has all these micro-climates that make layering a necessity, so these SmartWool pullovers are now an integral part of my wardrobe.

They make an amazing base-, second- or only-layer. The Small-size fits my 5' 8" / 120lb body like a beautiful glove.

SmartWool Microweight Zip T-Shirts

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 26, 2009

I bought two of these back in December. I am 5'4" / 120 lbs and got them in the small size. I gotta say that these are unbelievable. You get what you pay for... so while these were a little expensive to me, it was well worth the price.

The primary reason why I bought them was to use as a base-layer for skiing. While they do the job and some when I wear them skiing, I can't wait to take them backpacking as well. These will be a welcomed companion for a hiking layer, especially because the warmth-to-weight ratio is great. I am sure I'll spend many nights in my tent wearing these to give me an extra few degrees to my 30 degree sleeping bag.

As with all Smartwool items that I own, I am very satisfied with this product.
