The versatile Microweight Tee features SmartWool's soft merino wool fabric, which pulls sweat vapors away from your skin to keep you dry and comfortable. Wear this SmartWool short-sleeve shirt by itself on a warm-weather trail run or as a base layer underneath a fleece and a ski jacket. Merino wool is an excellent temperature regulator—it helps you stay cool in warm weather and toasty in cold—and it also fights odor. With flatlock seams, this crew-neck T-shirt won't chafe as you run, hike, or skin up to a distant ridge.
Bottom Line: Stay comfortable while you run, hike, bike, climb, ski, snowboard, mow the lawn, shoot hoops, walk the d...
OR, Mountain Hardwear...they all quit making my favorites, so I have to go shopping again by the time I wear out the old ones...this is my latest first layer choice...perfect, so I am sure it will be discontinued soon. Wicks and dries better than anything prior did.
I have been a big fan of the lightweight synthetic wicking shirts for some time, but at the recommendation of a veteran of mountaineering, I tried a lightweight wool T. It was awesome. When that cool breeze hits you, you don't freeze your core down before you can layer up. It is not a windproof shirt by any means but the wool does a great job of wicking the sweat away when needed and keeping you warm when the cool breeze kicks up. I need more of these...
For you folks out there who haven't invested in merino wool or SmartWool products - you've missed the boat. There simply is no synthetic on the market which compares and cotton wearers are just plain dumb. Merino wool wicks great, doesn't hold a smell, wears well, doesn't itch, comes in multiple colors and fashion, and the best part, it regulates body temperature like nothing else. When you're hot, it helps you cool down. When you're cold, it helps you warm up. This shirt is a great addition to any merino wool system and I highly recommend it. To the poster who says Icebreaker is better, I'd argue that. Both are nice shirts, but this one has a little more room and fits a little more generously. It is a little thicker too which will help long-term wear.
Wicks well, dries fast, breathes, cotton soft, stretchy. Never feel clammy even when drenched in sweat. Mine Weighs 6 oz in the large. Probably won't end up being the most durable shirt ever due to it's thinness. Does the job it's meant to do.
This tee is the tee for you! I got one of these and love it! It's a performance tee that also feels great underneath my North Face TKA100 microfleece. Even under my Arc'Teryx Epsilon, this guy performs! Sizes run large, though. I normally wear a medium, but the small was the one that it me best.
I started with Smartwool socks and love them. Tried the Icebreaker shirts for workout and they are fantastic. Tight fit on the Icebreaker so I only wear to workout. Wanted a shirt to wear all the time so I tried the Smartwool and decided I like the Icebreaker the best. Bought three of the Smartwool T shirts and will keep them. They are worth the money! Like the look of the Smartwool shirt for everyday wear but the Icebreaker is more comfortable and much better for wicking!
