While the idea of the SmartWool Men's Adrenaline Medium Crew Sock probably won't get your blood flowing (unless you have some sort of sock fetish), you have to admit that these are some teched out socks. SmartWool's SmartFit System gives you lots of arch and ankle support, while padding at the sole and Achilles brings your feet comfort for the trail. Variable knits and a special blend of merino wool and nylon bolster warmth in cool weather and aid in breathability when you're working hard. This makes the Adrenalines great for intense activities like mountain biking, snowshoeing, or skate skiing.
Bottom Line: Comfort/support endorphins for your feet.
I love these smartwool socks. I've hiked many miles in them and wear them for everyday use when it's cold or wet outside. They dry quickly, protect the foot in all the right places to keep from blistering etc. They are lightweight and fit very well...no complaints here.
I bought these because of other reviews I had seen - they all turned out to be true. Comfortable, airy, wicking/moisture absorbing, no matter how much hiking they did not smell (oddly enough) and when I had to buy brand new boots on the fly, I didn't blister at all. Could be a combination of the socks and the shoes, but I'm gonna give credit to both. Awesome buy, totally worth it.
I love these socks, but they are my least favorite SmartWools. This is only because they can sometimes overheat my feet. That being said, they wick sweat so well, it doesn't cause me to blister or soak through the socks, it's just a nitpicky detail. Otherwise, they work great, especially for long hikes where cushioning is important. Love them.
hiking 22 miles a day for months on end while only washing it once a week.
I used many types and brands of socks for my Appalachian Trail thru-hike, and this was by far the best. Most socks get hard after a couple days and not being washed, however, these stayed soft for much longer than any other. It is a wool sock, so my feet would get a little hot, but the thin spots on top kept my feet more dry. My boots are also very thick tough boots that don't breathe terribly well (I needed sturdy boots for the winter months) and my foot was still dry. In short, these are the best socks I've ever owned. Not to mention I will never need to buy a new pair as SmartWool has a lifetime guarantee
These socks have served me well for over a year now. They haven't worn out excessively. There's definitely slight wearing, especially on the heel and pad of the foot. However, there has never been a question about how excellent these are. My feet are still very warm whenever I wear these. No questions about it, an excellent buy.
I probably own 10 or 12 pairs of these socks. The key is to buy them en masse when they are on sale. I live in upstate NY and wear them everyday during the fall/winter/early spring. If you only wear cotton socks you have no idea what your missing.
The adrenaline is the best trail running sock, bar none. The strategic placement of elastic creates a great fit which simply doesn't slip on verticals. I sport a flat size 12 and the security of these socks is great. No more bunching under the ball after a long downhill grind!
My favorite socks. They're great for hiking and winter wear. Very durable and hold up better than other brands. I wear mine all the time and love them!
