Perfect Ski for Its Width

Yes, you can go wider for better performance in unconsolidated snow.And yes, you can go narrower for even lighter weight on the ascent.But for its width, this ski can't be beat. (Although perhaps the Dynafit Se7en Summits is comparable.)I've used these skis in almost every possible condition, from perfect powder (see attached pic), to perfect corn, to some variably soft snow, to really firm (and sometimes not so smooth) refrozen snow. Overall, impressive performance across a wider range of backcountry skiing conditions. The skin attachment system works very well: super quick to get on-off, very secure, and offers the option of peeling back the skin from either the tip or the tail. They will be OK. . . . Just OK. they are super light. that said you will find this a little problematic on harder snow at higher speeds. IF you are going to spend most of your days in the resorts i would look at another ski. this is for people who go UP just as much as going DOWN.

Expert skiers looking for lightweight but responsive boards have come to the right place. Long ski tours with equal amounts of up and down will be perfect for the FreeRANDO! Often seen on the feet of european ski tourers on long high alpine routes, with big vertical, long distances, and leg burning descents. If weight is of high importance, and you can hold your own making small short turns, this is the ski for you.

While ski trab often ships tip/tail attachments to work best with the duo tip. I have found that a more traditional tip look (the wide ones) also works quite well with these. Pair them with a set of fast gliding mohair skins for the best performance.

Fast as fudge

These skis are so fast with light mohair skins. Great ski runners when used with F1s. I have the world cup version, a bit lighter even. Amazing performance for the weight. But, it is what it is, don't expect it to act like a big fat ski in pwder and breakable crust.
