Simond Metallic 820 MXC Titane Mountain Axe - 2008

The Simond Metallic 820 MXC Titane Mountain Axe helps light-and-fast mountaineers bridge the gap between the traditional piolet and a technical ice tool. This lightweight axe features a titanium construction that weighs in at a mere 15 ounces. The one-piece head features a full adze and a sharpened pick that gives solid bite in hard ice, and the slightly bent shaft and elastomer grip get technical on difficult pitches.

Bottom Line: Full versatility for unknown mountain conditions.
