Sigg water bottles rule.

By:
January 12, 2009

So I was looking for a new water bottle for day hikes, and I was sick of the standard nalgene type water bottles, so I decided to try the sigg bottle out. I have to say that it is the best water bottle out! I love it. I was only worried about one thing that it would dent easily, but so far its held fast!

If you have the cash...

There is one main reason not to buy this product. You don't carry and drink enough water to need to spend 20 bucks on a container for it. So if thats the case, you really should be drinking more water, but if thats not going to happen move on.

If it is something you are debating then do it! The container is bomber, easy to carry, keeps the liquid temperature well and doesn't allegedly poison you like plastic water bottles do. So there you go. I have one and have used it more than enough already to warrant 20 bucks.

Best tasting water EVER!

By:

I don't know what type of magic is in this water bottle, but it takes ordinary water and makes it taste perfect! I bought one for my man friend to encourage his water consumption and he now LOVES water. Miracle I tell you.

Works really good. The bottle insulates much better than the plastic types, and I use it all the time.

You're Paying for the Pretty, not the performance

By:

I could go on and on about whats wrong and whats good, so let me cut to the chase:

PRO'S:They're pretty sweet looking and there tons of unique designs. It won't get tainted if you put various non-water beverages in them (unlike the plastic bottles). Also they are lightweight.

CON'S: While they are light weight it is at the cost of durability (especially when compared to other aluminum bottles, such as Laken's 1L bottles).

BOTTOM LINE: So in my opinion, if you don't need some crazy design and weight isn't an problem, go for a stainless steel bottle. However, if you're a weight weenie and want more bang for your buck, try some other brands. Sigg is high style, not high quality.

FYI: Paint will chip off the top & end up in your stomach!!!

So all these fancy colors & designs are not what I want, I exchanged my old BPA lines Sigg bottles for this one (except 1.5 liter version) & after 5 days the paint was chipping off the lip & into my stomach! Awesome, what a deal!!!

There is even paint specs in the liner & those have been coming off (I WONDER WHERE THEY END UP?).

Why don't they paint up to an inch below the lip so you don't get paint in your stomach?

And why do they have paint specs in the thread, do they just spray paint these things?

Not happy & not using Sigg anymore!!!

ADDENDUM: I must add that Sigg has some serious people working their & they care deeply about the quality of their product & THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE PAINT.

So I'm going to try a full metal version with no shiny paint or fancy designs...

...so I'll be back to let y'all know how that went.

Just be aware of the paint issue, I would rather have the ugliest metal water bottle in the world (if it is easy to clean & won't leach toxins into my body) versus having a bottle that looks good!
