Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season - 2009

The Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Tent’s simple design, light weight, and spacious interior are what keeps this tent coming back year after year. With a classic two-pole configuration and a ¾-coverage rain fly to save weight, the Sirius function just as well in the backcountry as it does in the campground. Two doors and vestibules give each person their own entry and gear storage, and the pole clips and hubbed poles make for a speedy setup.

Bottom Line: A classic two-person tent for car camping or backpacking.

Got this tent for camping during my climbing trips. I love it. You can fit two people pretty comfortably. There is enough space under the rain fly to stash your bags and other stuff. I use crash pads to sleep on after the day of bouldering, and I can fit 2 full Organic crash pads inside or under the tent. It held up to some pretty strong winds and super heavy rain. It might not be the best in terms of weight if you want to do long hikes in backcountry, but it’s still not the heaviest. The set up is super easy. Great purchase.

Simple but worth it

Simple design with an easy set up. What more can you ask for? This is my first backpacking tent and it is light and functional. I feel the construction is of good quality and when I've used it backpacking it seems to do the job well. My only little issue is that the fly does not fully enclose. All in all I like this little guy.

There is not another rain fly for this tent. If you want a full coverage fly option, checkout the Zeta 2: http://www.backcountry.com/store/SDS0380/Sierra-Designs-Zeta-2-Tent-2-Person-3-Season.html It doesn't cost much more and offers a lot more liveable space inside.

Brilliant!

I have used this as my primary backpacking tent for about 4 years, including a 550 mile section hike of the AT. The rain fly design keeps the weight under 5lbs and provides boatloads of ventilation, which keeps condensation at a minimum. This is one of the roomiest 2-person tents out there. I am 6'3" and my feet have yet to poke a hole in the end, and I can sit upright with plenty of head clearance. I have used it in all seasons and weather. Holds sturdy in severe thunderstorms with no leaks. In the winter, I don't stake the fly out so the sides hang over the tent and cover the vents. This adds a few more degrees of warmth. On clear summer nights, leave the fly off and since half the tent is mesh, you get a panoramic starry night view. If it starts to rain it takes about 5 seconds to clip the fly on. I can set up the whole freestanding tent and fly in less than a minute. After 4 years of use, never using a footprint, there is almost no wear on the tent. Sierra Designs has made a great product, and at a price less than the other guys, its a must buy.

i used this tent on three trips so far and has held up nicely. does not accumulate much condensation in the morning, lightweight in your pack, and the set up is a breeze. i have not had to use it in a downpour so im not sure how it would do in that condition (hence the 4stars).
