Sierra Designs Hurricane Pant - Men's

Prepare for the inevitable afternoon thunderstorms during your next backpacking or hiking trip in the mountains with the Sierra Designs Men’s Hurricane HP Pant. A solvent-free laminate and fully taped seams provide durable water resistance and breathability for blocking brief showers and light drizzles. An elastic drawcord waist keeps the pant snug, and 12-inch ankle zips let you change in and out without taking off your boots. When the sky clears, the Hurricane packs up into its side cargo pocket to get you back on the trail.

Bottom Line: Brave those brief summer tempests in this lightweight pant.

nice to have

These are light and pack away small in your pack. I have always carried them as insurance on cold (sub 40s) hikes. Finally used them for a few rain/sleet/snow cold days on the Colorado trail worn over silkweights and I gotta say I am very impressed with the breathability. No moisture build up. Now it was cold and lower humidity but they worked as adv. Front zip pocket was handy for keeping the digital camera against my leg and warm enough to function. My only gripe is the elastic pull for the waist. It didn't fail but looks suspect. If it did it would not be a show stopper, merely an inconvenience.

Awesome pants to keep you dry

By:
August 4, 2009

I absolutely love them so much I got two of them, they really keep you dry. I wear them for 18 hours a day in wet factory conditions, they will take punishment from chemicals like iodine dips and cleaning detergents. These pants are very thin and very light, I also work in cold conditions so I wear Underarmour thermal pants underneath it without any problems. One of my pants is made in China, while the other was made in Vietnam, they do have some minor differences like one of them has a bigger zippable pocket. I made a mistake by putting one of them in the dryer, which I think somewhat melted the logo paint a little. By all means do hang dry them as they do dry really fast.
