Shimano America Dura-Ace 7801 STI Levers - Double - 2008

Shimano shortened the height and narrowed the width throughout the hoods of the Dura-Ace 7801 STI Double Levers so your hands won’t feel as much stress when you shift and brake. A slightly decreased grip circumference (by 5mm as compared to the 9-speed STI) works well for the non-Frankenstein-sized hand, and as you shift, the 7801 STI levers arc so your hand stays in a natural position. Shimano borrowed robust internal mechanisms from its MTB technology and integrated them into this brake-shift combo for smooth, precise, powerful shifting.

Bottom Line: The smooth grace of Dura-Ace.

Yep! They are more than shift levers, but precision instruments made to last a lifetime. Typically you get what you pay for. If you want some of the best shifting available on a road bike, this is it. Those who would benefit from the use of these levers would never question why they cost this much. You get the brake levers too! KC

Great shifts, exposed cable

These shifters are top notch. They feel really solid and shirt very accurately. Infact, combined with dura-ace shifters the shifts are amazingly precise. The ergonomics of the handle and hood are good as long as you don't try to mount the hoods parallel to the ground, this is not cool anyway.

The beef I have with these are
1) The small tin top cap on these are garbage and are easily damaged. If it dents it will interfere with the shifters mechanism. Replacing these little buggers is expensive.
2) The shifter cables still spout out the side of the shifter and don't run under that bar tape which is week and looks cluttered.
