Sherpani Rumba Backcountry Kid Carrier

Sherpani made the Rumba Backcountry Kid Carrier with an adjustable, unisex suspension system that fits 16 to 22-inch torso sizes. Plus, you can make micro-adjustments on the fly, so you don't need to go through five minutes of on-again, off-again action. A topper sunshade and tuck-away windows protect your kid from sun, wind, and rain, while the pop-off day pack doubles as a diaper bag or a toddler's school pack. The Rumba's five-point chest plate prevents your child from getting into those slouchy, horridly-uncomfortable-looking positions, while baby stirrups help keep blood flowing in your little one's legs.

Bottom Line: The adjustable Rumba Backcountry Kid Carrier keeps you and your kid comfortable on hikes and all-day adventures.

Well made and comfortable

We have used this pack with our daughter (now two years old) for walks to the park, transportation on the beach in Mexico, snowshoeing, and XC skiing. It provides great stability and comfort for both the passenger and the wearer. She loves riding in it, and it is easily adjustable so that my wife and I can switch off quickly and easily.

With the extra gear compartment below and the removable daypack, it'll hold a lot of extra gear (spare diapers, layers, snacks) for long days on the trail, too. The removable sunshade is stable and allows good coverage - admittedly, we have not had occasion to use the rain shield yet.

Overall, an excellent product that is much more suited to long outings than the similarly-designed Kelty carriers (of which we also own one - it is good, but not as good as the Sherpani). Both the backpack frame and child harness are much more secure and comfortable.

I used a back carrier for a while with my daughter. She is now

I used a back carrier for a while with my daughter. She is now 3 years old, 35 pounds, and 3ft 1 inch. I am really skeptical about making a purchase and finding out that it's just as good as the one she outgrew. So, can anyone answer if a long preschooler (not infant or toddler) can truly go on a hike or walk with one of these and not have their feet fall asleep, be uncomfortable (especially with length), and not have it hurt the person carrying it? This is where we are only currently with old one since she grew. Thanks.

I have a two-year old who is 35 pounds and 3ft 3inches, and he fits in it, but all the straps were at the maximum length. He seemed to be comfortable in it. The stirrups are a nice touch and help keep his feet from dangling (although they are small for a 9.5 toddler shoe. Overall, it fits better than the Kelty Adventure that he used to ride in.

Money Well Spent

I bought this carrier for my 3 month old and it has been one of the best purchases we have made. I bought the carrier mainly for walks through our neighborhood and wooded trails. My child is 13 pounds and 22inches and has no problem fitting comfortably in the pack. I am 6'2" and 180pounds and have no troubles with it fitting me, my girlfriend is 5'5" and 120 and easily carries this pack around for a couple hours without complaint. It has so many straps to take pressure off shoulders and put on back or vise versa, this pack is very versatile with its setup. We bought the pack because my wife was returning to work and it was too difficult to walk two dogs and try to push a stroller, this frees up your hands and is a life saver. Absolutely love it, there customer service at Sherpani is also top notch! Get one!!
