For long-distance hauling, portaging in nasty weather, or expedition storage, the SealLine Pro Pack 115 Dry Bag features an adjustable suspension system to help you comfortably hump your gear. The padded back panel and full hip belt stabilize the load on long treks. The roll-top closure secures with side compression straps, and the bathtub-style bottom gives you added durability.

Bottom Line: Protect your gear for the long haul.

Here, it is less than 2/3 full. Note the ability to adjust the back suspension (which can also be removed, if necessary). It is also made in the USA.

The ultimate dry bag

By:
May 26, 2009

This is a huge but great dry bag. It is a real dry bag, and will keep your gear dry if your boat overturns or the skies open up. But what really sets this apart (besides how large it is) is the fact that not only does it have shoulder straps, but it has a hip belt. If you have a long hike to your put-in, the hip belt is a life-saver (carrying a heavy load for any distance using just shoulder straps--or worse, a duffle with a single strap--is murder on the back). This bag really feels like a backpack, and is adjustable enough to allow you to get a comfortable fit on your hike. True, it is not as comfortable as a well-made backpack (it has no frame, and the hip belt has only a little padding), but it is certainly more comfortable than any other dry bag I have tried. And this bag is huge! Space is never an issue (the bigger issue is how much weight you can carry).

It is true that not everyone needs a dry bag with all these features (and this size). But if you need a true dry bag that you can easily hike with (you know who you are), this bag would be hard to beat.
