Scott Avenger Softshell Jacket - Men's

A fully taped, Gore Tex Soft Shell body makes the Scott Men’s Avenger Softshell jacket extremely waterproof, durable, and breathable while having a softer, warmer, more comfortable feel than normal Gore Tex fabric. Scott added thermally bonded, waterproof zippers close off the remaining possible points of moisture attack and a powder skirt can keep the heavy assaults from freezing your core when you’re chest deep. The avenger also utilizes pack friendly, seamless shoulders and an anti-chafe chin guard for comfortable backcountry treks.

Bottom Line: Who knew Gore Tex could feel so good?

In the picture where you can see the soft shell in the hood it

In the picture where you can see the soft shell in the hood it looks like a much thicker/warmer fleece inner compared to other Goretex SoftShell jackets like Arcteryx Stingray or Burton AK Continuum. Is this the case? Does this have a more alpine cut(shorter in front/longer in back) or normal?

Should I go L or XL?

195 lbs, 6'2", athletic, looking for baggy fit, zipper length of about 32".

Other jacket sizing comparisons:
Burton AK-L is pretty much the most perfect fit I have found in body/arm length and perfect baggyness/chest sizing.
Arcteryx Stingray-XL is close but don't like the shorter front/longer back, and zipper of only 30" too short in body.
North Face Sedition-XL is pretty good fit, just a touch big.

How does the fit compare, most specifically to the Burton AK?

Thank you.

i'm 6'1" ~165lbs. and i just went to the backcountry.com store yesterday and tried on the medium. i really liked the fit for my frame — tall, slender, long arms. it has a slight athletic cut to it (ie. slightly fitted) which i really like. i didn't notice if it has the alpine cut you're asking about. i don't think that it did — i tend to not like jackets with the short front/longer back either.

i haven't tried on an AK, but it did try on the arc'teryx fury SV (not sure how close it is to the stingray) and really liked that fit as well. the scott does seem a little stiffer/heavier than the arc'teryx — possibly the thicker lining you mentioned. the lining is like a short fur/crushed velvet fleece — not sure how else to describe it. but it feels like a bombproof shell while on. i'm certain i could get away with only one layer underneath for most of the season — maybe two on sub zero days.

if you're looking for baggy, you might want to try the XL.

i really dig this jacket, and i'm considering it. i do wish that it had wrist gaiters (the gusseted elastic kind, so you can wear your gloves under the sleeve and gaiter, without having to cinch down/peg the cuffs with the velcro).

features i love:
• powder skirt
• athletic fit
• seamless shoulders
• length of sleeves and jacket overall
• pitzips

features missing:
• wrist gaiters
• smaller or detachable hood
• an army green color option
• internal pocket needs an earphone option/out for ipods
