Scarpa Tornado Pro Alpine Touring Boot - Plus Fit TT Liner - Men's - 2007

Equally at home at the resort or in the backcountry, the four buckle Scarpa Men's Tornado Pro Alpine Touring Boot gives those who live for the mountains the versatility to tackle any situation. Want to spend a day in your favorite resort? Attach the included super stiff tongue, buckle up the Tornado Pro, step into your alpine bindings, and tear those fresh cords a new one. The Tornado Pro's Vibram Ride soles take the sketch out of rocky boot packs and won't interfere with your alpine bindings' release mechanism. Lateral canting adjustment lets you dial in the boot cuff to match your stance, and a high-backed Scarpa Plus Fit TT liner adds a second, denser layer of heat-moldable foam for extra support and comfort. When the resort gets tracked out, head for the backcountry—just swap out the stiff tongue for an included softer touring tongue, flip the ski/walk mechanism to tour mode, and make a few laps. With just enough flex in the right places, the Tornado Pro tours comfortably but rips through crud, powder, or any other type of snow on the way down.

Never skied an AT boot before and was wondering which brands

Never skied an AT boot before and was wondering which brands tend to cater to wider feet. Any preferences between all these AT boots? Do you find you sacrafice any performance using an AT boot over an alpine boot? thanks. huzie

I have VERY WIDE fee and I love my Garmont Endorphin AT Boots. If you have to get any modifications done to your boot shells (like blowing out the 6th toe area like me), then you'll most likely have to go with Garmonts -- my boot fitter wouldn't even work on Scarpas b/c of their use of multiple types of plastic in the shell design. Garmont uses 1-single type of plastic (as opposed to Scarpa who uses 3), thus providing a single melting point that's much more favorable to modification. Now, if you have wide feet, but don't require custom boot fitting, then you'll probably want to go with the Scarpas as they tend to run bigger out of the box than Garmont.
