Scapegoat Village Insulated Jacket - Women's - 2008

The Scapegoat Women’s Village Insulated Jacket is so finely designed, it may well seem that it took an entire village to create it. Fully taped, lasercut, and welded seams show Scapegoat’s dedication to details most may never even see. Scapegoat also dedicated themselves to the environment by insulating The Village Jacket with PrimaLoft ECO—a blend of 50% recycled material and virgin PrimaLoft fibers. The Scapegoat Village Insulated Jacket has the warmth for a bitter winter day and the style for a boisterous night on the town. Zippered cuffs, an adjustable, belted waist, and concealed magnetic collar closure add subtle fashion cachet to this demure Scapegoat coat.

Bottom Line: Now if we only had a village to help us with our hair . . .

We will not be getting any more in. Winter season is essentially over and we're moving on to Spring products now. Sorry.www.scapegoatbrand.com is their website and can help you search for other retailers who might have it in stock.

Post-Trip Update Review

By:
May 1, 2009

I don't usually do double reviews, but this product deserves it. I just got back from an early spring trip to England and France. I wore this jacket almost constantly until it warmed up in Paris at the end of my trip. Because it packs down relatively well for its size, I was able to stuff it in my large purse when it was too warm. I wore this in light drizzle and 40 F London temps at night, and I think it would have kept me warm at least down to low 30's. It is great at keeping your core warm, even if it doesn't look like it is that technical. I also received a lot of compliments/attention while wearing this, and the green color really is fantastic. I have absolutely no regrets now about purchasing it!

I would like to purchase this coat from your company. However, your pricing is more than two other online retailers. My husband has always enjoyed purchasing from your store and trust our credit card in your hands. The other stores are charging 259.00Thank you for your consideration.

Warmer than expected

By:
April 8, 2009

I am leaving for a trip to the UK and France in a few days, and I needed a stylish warm jacket that would be lighter than my thick wool peacoat for traveling. With only one review so far on here, I was skeptical to drop a lot of money on this jacket, even on sale. Thanks to Backcountry.com's return policy, I felt brave enough to give it a go. The Absinthe color looks very nice in peron, and the fit was true to size - slim and flattering without constricting. The dark color would be even more flattering, but I had too much dark clothing already. I can tell that it has a high warmth to weight ratio, which is what I will need in the cold temperatures of Europe and winter city wear back home. No "snowman look" here - very classy and urban. My only gripes are:

1)the belted waist adjustments only have two snaps each, which doesn't allow me to adjust quite small enough for my own build - but it's pretty close.
2)the waist is rather high for my taste. I know that's a style, but I prefer a more natural waist on a jacket.

Overall, the Scapegoat Village is cute, streamlined, and feels quite warm. If it will help you determine sizing, I bought the XS and weigh +/-115 lbs, and am 5'3" in height. I could still wear it if (when) I fluctuate up 5-10 lbs. It's a steal on sale!

I am looking for a coat as an alternative to a down coat...I have an allergy. My first concern is warmth, but a close second is style. This coat seems cute, but is it warm? I mean 20F degrees cold?

Not a winter jacket

By:

This is not a winter jacket. if there is any insulation, it must be very very thin. Overall, it is a very cute, well made jacket.
