Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra M+ Trail Running Shoe - Men's

The Salomon Men’s XA Pro 3D Ultra M+ Shoe sports all the technical features of the regular 3D Ultra, but its greater volume and wider last are what set it apart. Salomon’s Quicklace system lets you slip in and out of the M+ in no time flat. A mud guard and rubber toe cap withstand the brutalities of a rough and tough trail run while the Contagrip outsole gives you steady footing over uneven terrain. Find comfort in the triple density EVA midsole when the miles start to pile up.

Bottom Line: Throw out those pinching trail running shoes and slip into the M+ for maximum comfort.

Ah the difficulty of purchasing shoes online –plus Im done with GTX and will never look back

I was looking for a new hiking shoe this season. I felt that the Merrel Chameleons I have been wearing for the past year were a miserable disappointment. It seemed like it took eight months to break them in, plus I'm done with Gortex as a 3 season hiker. So I did what I always do when its time for new gear - I read and read and read some more. It quickly became evident to me that everyone loves these shoes. Theyre popularity is no secret and the average of the aprox. 50 reviews I have read was roughly 4.5 stars - not bad for shoes not bad at all. Well I got these in my normal size 10.5 and they fit perfectly. The shoes are light for the amount of support they deliver. Compared to my GTX chameleons they seem practically weightless. there are two things disticnt about these shoes you should be aware of. They provide pronounced arch support (I have low arches) and some with low arches find the sensation odd - I find it lends me more foot articulation. Also these shoes may not be built for the wide foot (my foot is neither wide or narrow). The lace system is efficient, the sole provides excellent traction, and Salomon in my opinion found the perfect balance in the stiffness of the sole. Not to hard or to soft. So far just a great shoe - they are more comfortable out of the box than the Merrels Ive been wearing for a year

Write your question here...I have flat to little or no arch.

Write your question here...I have flat to little or no arch. I just read where one owner found them to be uncomfortable. And, in my "street" running shoes, I wear NOTHING but Brooks, as they are well cushioned, supportive, and come in 2E. I've always wanted to try Salomon's, but.....Any suggestions? My last GREAT trail shoes were TNF 103 Ultra GTX XCR. I completely bypassed the 104 model, due to the lacing system. Not sure about the new 105 Ultra GTX XCR....HELP!!!!

Great trail running shoe

These shoes a ridiculously nice to run in! The quicklace sinches down the shoe on the arch of your foot and keeps your toes from sliding around and hitting the front of your shoe. Never had a shoes hug my foot like these do!

Salomon's website lists them at 390 grams, which is 13.75 ounces (per shoe). Plenty light to take on a 3-4 mile run.

Select the Correct Footwear

By:
June 15, 2009

The Solomon Trail Runners were comfortable, lightweight, and very breathable. Water drains (and enters) easily. I carried 35 to 40 pounds in a Gregory Baltoro 70 pack and the Solomon's were not adequate as my feet broke down after two weeks. Make sure you have the correct footwear for the load you plan on carrying!

Yes. These are great hiking shoes. I like using them for high mileage days, with a light-ish pack. Obviously you aren't going to get the same kind of support as with a dedicated backpacking boot, but the lacing system is more than adequate to keep your feet in place and as long as you're not carrying too much your ankles should be happy.

Second pair of these shoes. Once they have been worn until they won't stay on my feet anymore (not actually sure how long that will actually take because the last ones went for more than a year before they disappeared) I will replace them with another pair of Salomons. Awesome shoes - get some!

Just ordered my 2nd pair too. Wish they actually came in GTX as well for a more winter-like trail shoe.
