Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe - Women's - 2007

Salomon made the lightweight, shock-absorbing Salomon XA Pro 3D Women's Trail Running Shoes for your morning run up mountain trails. The 3D advanced-chassis system pairs with close-to-the-ground construction for ultimate stability. This system stabilizes your feet over uneven terrain, without losing energy from your stride. Less stiff thanks to less TPU in the sole, the Pro 3D rises above the other XA models, providing more shock absorption. Built for moving quickly, the 3D has lightweight, breathable sandwich mesh, so you can run the best times of your season. Quickfit asymmetrical lacing with a lace pocket keeps your fit perfect through your entire race.

Bottom Line: Run faster in the super light Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoes.

great trail runners

By:
February 1, 2007

Just got these and love them! Love the lacing system; no need to stop to tie those laces. Very comfortable and lots of support. Would definitely recommend going down a size as I usually wear a size 7 and bought these in a 6!

Awesome shoe!

By:
June 13, 2008

I currently have 5 pairs of Pro XA 3D/XCR. They are absolutely comfortable and lightweight. I'm usually a 6-6.5 in most running shoes, but the size 6 was slightly big and didn't stabilize my foot as well as I wanted. I was contemplating on going smaller to 5.5. It made a vast difference for me. If you get a chance to try them on at a store, do it, then buy them here for the better pricing.

Completely satisfied

By:
March 24, 2008

I never write reviews. I know that's bad. I have ordered countless numbers of times and never felt compelled to write any comments. However, I cannot stop raving about how much I love these shoes. The shoes are comfortable and incredibly functional. I hike in Temescal Canyon on a trail that is extremely steep going up, and then I run downhill back to the base. These shoes are flexible enough to give me the traction I need climbing at an incline, and they're roomy enough in the toebox so that I can run downhill comfortably without my toes jamming into the top of the shoe. I hike more frequently because of these shoes. They are so comfortable, I also wear them to take long walks with the dog. I highly recommend the shoe. Regarding the other reviews commenting on size, I purchased my normal size. I usually wear a size 5.5 or 6 and I bought the size 6.

Great!

I have arch problems and these shoes pretty much cured that problem. After wearing these shoes for a few days, my arches felt 100% better. I highly recommend these shoes to anyone that needs extra foot support.

great lacing system!

By:
May 30, 2007

These Salomons have a great lacing system - it takes a bit to get used to at 1st however. This shoes runs big, I would recommend getting a 1/2 size down compared to other running shoes. The shoes perform great on the trail, the have a nice amount of grip and good ventilation. Coming from road running shoes I notice the lack of cushioning, however these shoes still provide a fair amount of stability support.

good shoes!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
June 16, 2008

i like these shoes - they are very light weight and don't give me blisters like my old trail running shoes. i've found that salomon shoes run a little big though, so make sure you order down about 1 or 1/2 size.

Good Shoe

By:
August 1, 2005

Ventilation is great, fit is great. Because of the vented material, I was worried I wouldn't get enough support. Not so -- these shoes give me better support than my motion control-based street trainers. Great in tough terrain, excellent traction.

I am having a bit of an insole problem, though. Threw the stock ones out (blisters on ball of foot), but my normal insoles don't seem to fit well. Once I get these shoes dialed in, I'm sure they will be my all time favorites.

Very conforming

By:
November 14, 2005

I enjoyed these shoes because they conformed so well to the contour of my feet. I didn't feel like I was running on my heels and toes but my entire foot. However, the red lining does stain white socks.

Running can be fun!

By:
May 10, 2006

My foot is an 8.5 and this shoe fit me wonderfully. I hate trying on shoes that say they are an 8.5, yet my toes have no room to move because the shoe is too tight. Then I have to try a size 9, only to find the heel is too loose. The XA Pro 3D gave me the perfect amount of wiggle room in the toes and great snugness in the heel. I never once felt a hot spot or any rubbing to cause a blister. I also love how easy they are to adjust on the go. These shoes are light, yet have the support and cushion I need and like. Some past shoes I have run in have had too much platform, making me feel that it was a matter of time before I was going to roll my ankle. These trail runners never made me feel that way.

Like a glove

By:
May 25, 2006

These are some of my favorite shoes. They fit like a glove (like wearing slippers) and are great for everything. I even use them if I don't have my boots out on the ATV trails. I really like not having to worry about my shoes coming untied as well.

quickly worn shoes.....

By:
October 2, 2006

The shoes have wonderful support, and I love that you can tighten them easily with the pull cord. The look of the shoes is also very cool, however, the stitching started fraying in some areas after only a week of wearing. I was in real need for a shoe replacement, so I didn't return them to this site, but I would have....

Who need's an approach shoe?

By:
December 14, 2005

I have to slog up scree and talus pretty often to get to my favorite climbing places, and have generally chosen approach shoes for these approaches. I recently bought these shoes for running, but found that they work surprisingly well on loose rock, and less than ideal trails. The soles have awesome grip, and the fast lacing system is brilliantly convenient. Leaning over or stopping to bend down with a pack to tie your laces is a total pain. But with these shoes, untied laces are a thing of the past. And making adjustments to the fit (tightening for difficult terrain) is so fast. Overall, this is a fantastic pair of shoes.

XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe - Women's

By:
April 2, 2007

This is my fifth pair of Salomon trail shoes, so its a good bet that I will give them a good review. I am from the UK and the ones over here are sized just too small for me, so it suits me to get them from the States.
These ones are lighter than my previous ones which were Raid Race II's - sadly they don't seem to make them anymore as I liked the raised ankle support.
The Pro 3D's are quite supportive, particularly in the instep area, but very comfortable and I am very happy with them.

runs big

By:
May 23, 2005

I have had Salomon shoes in the past - these shoes run bigger!! They are great - just really go down a size - they don’t seem to match the sizing of last years trail runners.

Awesome light-weight trail runner

By:
September 30, 2005

Beefy treads, zip-style lacing, and light weight make this shoe a great trail runner. Looks good enough to wear with capris. Not as much cushion as my Sauconys, but the lesser weight makes up the difference. Love 'em.

love these shoes!

By:
November 14, 2005

I got these shoes to replace another brand of trail runners. I love these. I run on rocky, steep trails and these shoes are supportive and protect my feet. I appreciate how light they are for the level of sturdy protection they provide. Great traction too. Oh, and did I mention the roomy toebox? The only complaint I have is that the ratcheted lock for the lacing system loosens occasionally.

Great Shoe - Go 1 Size Smaller!!

By:
January 17, 2006

These performance shoes are as perfect for working out in as they are for hikes and trail runs. I strongly recommend going 1 full size smaller than your regular size, as these run pretty large. The heel is a bit roomy still, but overall the 1 size smaller is more comfortable.

1/2 too big - otherwise perfect!!

By:
March 24, 2008

My feet run a little narrow and is "low in volume" - this shoe was 1/2 too big. Got it replaced with ease [except for the return ship charge :-( ]. I love these shoes! Incidentally, I only buy Solomon running shoes - love them!!

AMAZING

By:
September 20, 2006

These are the best shoes for trails I have every bought. I am not much of a runner but when I do man they are light. They seem to really wrap around your feet. They do fit big I am a size 9. I went with 8.5 and they are a little to big. I would strongly suggest a full size smaller when you purchase these. But well worth every penny.

super shoe

By:
September 13, 2007

I have really bad knees and hate having to come down the trail. These shoes are really comfortable and make the downslope almost tolerable. They are really grippy on loose stuff. I love the lace system. I do need to wear at least ankle-length socks because the stiff tongue gives me a blister on the front of my leg.

Great shoes

By:
July 16, 2007

These shoes are very comfortable and have good stability. The toe protection is great for rougher terrain. I am wearing these shoes on all types of surfaces and am very pleased with their performance, comfort, and style. I had no problems wearing them right out of the box. Size seems accurate. Highly recommended!

Only trail running shoes we'll buy

By:
August 15, 2007

My husband and I frequently run the dirt (and rock and root and mud and moose filled) trails of our Anchorage, Alaska home. We've been running these trails for years and the ONLY trial running shoe we'll buy is the Salomon SA Pro 3D. The "comp" model doesn't hold up as well and we prefer the mesh draining feature of this model over the XCR. These are absolutely the best trail running shoe out there!

Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe

By:
March 24, 2008

I do love these shoes except for the lack of cushioning. I read a lot of reviews and many said to buy 1 size smaller so I took a chance and only ordered a half size smaller and I regret it! They run true to size for me and my toes do hit the end because I ordered a half size smaller than normal. I wish I would have gotten my normal 8.5. I think they would have been perfect. Love the lacing system; no need to stop to tie those laces, but if you do it is a quick fix. They provide great stability, arch support and traction and they breath in the heat. Great Pair of Shoes!

Heed the advice of others...

By:
October 10, 2007

These are a great pair of shoes. I read a lot of reviews and many said to buy 1 size smaller so I took a chance and did. They fit me perfectly! They molded to my foot pretty quickly. Supportive, aesthetically pleasing, and easy quick tie(slide), these shoes have served me well on trails, grass, pavement. I would have given them a 5 if they had a tad more cushion...I like them soft like pillows.

AWESOME SHOES

By:
March 19, 2008

Salomon Trail running shoes are fantastic! This is my first pair and at first they felt a little narrow. They have perfectly molded to my feet and they are now like wearing slippers...in fact it past 8pm and they are still on my feet because I hadn't realized I still had shoes on :) Love your site...great products, awesome prices

The Best Running Shoes Ever

By:
February 4, 2008

This is my first time owning these running shoes. These are the best running shoes I have ever put on my feet. I cut 1.5 minutes off of my running time. I can't feel that I'm wearing these shoes. I would buy these again and recommend them to anyone. I am training for my first sprint triathlon and these shoes are awesome!!!

give them a chance

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 7, 2008

Everyone RAVES about these shoes and I have never had Salomon running shoes, so I decided to try them out. Yes, they do run about 1/2 size large. At first I did NOT like them...the prominent arch support and higher cut (than my road shoes) felt foreign and was hard to get used to. I now love them, especially the quick lace, and am VERY excited for the snow to melt so I can use them on real trails.
