Different sidecut, radius and the core of the Suspect is wood, not the Isocell complex of the Teneighty.

Probably the 161 cm ski of this should be a good length if you are skiing 156 already. As for cheapish bindings, check out Look Px 12, Rossi 120, or similar Dynastar bindings. You can get them cheap in the offseason.

The 1080's would be an alright ski, quite forgiving, and decent characteristics to learn from, but is more of an intermediate to advanced park ski. For a more all level ski, check out something like the K2 Extreme, Volkl Bridge, or maybe even the Armada AR6. As for boots, I suggest going into a shop and trying on as many pairs as you can to find one that works for you.

The best 50/50 ski would be the Volkl Bridge and for someone your size I would recommend the 185cm. If you want something a little more narrow and shorter check out the K2 extreme 179cm. Also, I would recommend avoiding foam core skis for someone your size; I'm 6'3" 185lbs and I blew out a pair of Salomon skis similar to these in one season.

If you are looking to use these skis for park riding you should also look into Volkl Wall, Armada AR6, K2 Extreme (formerly the K2 public enemy), or the Salomon Suspect.

161 sounds pretty short, especially if you're going to center-mount the skis, but the real questions is: Where do you plan to spend most of your time on the slops? Pipe/Park? Groomers? Off-piste? Backcountry?

The 181 would be a good length for someone of your size, unless you want to run an shorter ski, which then you could get away with the 171.

181. This would be the best option for your size. 171, since it is a twin tip, will feel too small.

Fun. just plain Fun. depending on the length, these are very lively and responsive in the bumps. They have gotten a little wider over the years, which effects it a little bit. If you want a super fun, all mountain ski that turns the hill into a playground, I would recommend.

First of all your local shop does not know what it is talking about or is not familar with twin tips, you sould be riding this ski in the 182 or if they don't have any go 174, do not go any small then that for your size or you will just over power it, i'm 5'-7" and the 166 was way to small for me when i rode it, and felt great in the 182. Now as for the ski, it was unchanged from 06 to 08 just different graphics, it is a great all-mountain ski, at 85 in the waist it skis some powder, carves groomers, and was widely used in the park. the cons of it are that it chattered at speed in superhard/icey conditions because of its foam core and doe's not have a smooth damp feel to it because of the foam core. they are a strong ski that can take a fair amount of abuse, but like all salomon skis have soft bases that get damaged easily. If you could pick up a pair for less then say $275-$250 go for it. Otherwise I would keep looking you can find better deals out there.

Go on the outlet and take a look at the o8 scott punisher for 300 bucks, it is a way better ski then this ski, also look around and see if you can find last years salomon foil, they were a great all mountain ski, you sould be able to get it for around 300 to 350. good luck.This willie guy above me is talking crazy. For groomers and a little bit of all mountain/powder the teneighty would be a great ski for you. Salomon always makes a quality ski. This years model of the teneighty now has a woodcore which will make it a much more durable ski. I would highly recommend it.

These are brand new 09 skis, salomon is releaseing a newer version of it's original 1080 ski ( who knows why ) I guess it's supposed to stir up some sort of nostalgia, But with so many good ski's out there now why bother. Twin tip skis have changed so much since then, in dimentions and are so speicalized for how you ski I'm sure you could spend your money elsewhere and get a much better ski.
