The Salomon Snow Clog is the king of winter footwear. The Snow Clog is often imitated but stands out from the competition with superior traction, warmth and definitive style. Winter Contagrip sole material won't harden in cold conditions, meaning you keep superior traction in inferior weather. Snow Clogs are water resistant, so you'll stay dry even if it's dumping out. After a long day of skiing, the Snow Clogs are easy to slip into and the soft fleece lining will wrap your tired, weary feet in a pillow of comfort. If you work in a casual office the Snow Clog will make a great addition to your work wardrobe.
Bottom Line: Whether you are working, relaxing or partying, Salomon Snow Clogs keep your feet warm and happy.
Very clog like fit, excellent snow traction. I think these fit true to size, if you wear a winter/thick weight sock. If you wear a dress/thin sock, try a half size smaller. Not very tight at the heel. Slips on and off easily.
I got the Snow clogs for traction they have. I also have the Merrill Clogs. They don't have the traction, but they are much more comfortable. Wish the two were combined. The Salomon's have a smaller toe box. Some don't mind that, but I like toe room. They aren't uncomfortable, but you don't want to leave them on once their particular purpose has been fulfilled.
Warm and comfortable, I wear them all fall and winter. I have three pair and they are all great. Theyre completely waterproof, great for a lot of terrain, and they excel in mud and snow.
I ordered the men's Salomen snow clog in a size 9 but had to return them for a smaller size. I have a pair of these from a few years ago and never had a problem with sizing. These newer ones seem either too tight or too big reguardless of the size. I kept the smaller size ones with the hopes they will stretch with wear, they are comfortable but with alittle wear will fit "real good". The soles are excellent for traction. My previous ones are about 5 years old and are still strong but i thought it was time for a fresh pair. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a stylish and functional winter shoe.
It's so frustrating today that if a guy finds a great shoe for running, dress, walking etc., its maker decides to "update and improve" it thereby eliminating something that works. This shoe is the best I've owned. I've had a pair of these for over four years. I have flat feet and a lot of shoes have arches in them and are uncomfortable. Not the Saloman snow clog. This shoe needs to be ordered a half size larger, but it's the most comfortable shoe you will ever own. Warm and dry in snow and the cold but never hot on mild or warm days. Plus all the women notice and love them! I still have the first pair I bought and I live in Rocky Mtn. National Park, they show only mild wear after all these years. Plus they go with anything and I've often worn them as casual dress shoes. Buy 2 pairs at least.
Normally I hate clogs except on women. But these shoes are some of the best I've ever owned. They are running a half size small. When I bought my first pair 3 years ago I had to buy a whole size larger. Theses shoes are always comfortable in ALL weather. They are waterproof, snowproof, never get hot even in warm weather and are always warm when you need them. I have flat feet and finding shoes that fit right is a challenge. I have bought 4 pair to make sure I'll always have a pair.
Buy a half size smaller. I think Salomon overcompensated for thick winter socks when they developed this shoe. We live in Nagano, Japan and have no means of trying these on, so it was a back and fourth deal. The traction on snow is awesome, but I wish they used a different rubber to track better on ice. That's my only complaint. They are very warm shoes. I would not hesitate to buy them again.
I saw these clogs about a year ago and always meant to latch onto a pair.
Now that I have them I'd like to latch on to a few more pairs (it looks like the manufacture has discontinued the line) as these are awesome clogs for both dress and play.
My first use was in an early morning hike (still dark outside) through ice and snow traveling to the shipyard. I was impressed with the griping power and although not 100%, very little slippage while walking on unexpected ice.
And hey! They look cool too. Perfect for Coastal Maine.
Dad loved his Snow Clogs! He said they are some of the most comfortable shoes he has ever owned. This site shipped my order quickly and provided excellent communication regarding the status of my order.
I've had mine since early December 2001...I wore them all winter, and I wore them hard. Come spring they were just too warm and I went to some XA-Pros, but only temporarily because these babies came out with the first frost and have withstood another year of abuse. Wipe off whatever you do to them with a wet cloth, and they're set to go to work, play, and even look great with a suit and tie (try it)! Never wear out and are so warm you're feet will thank you profusely!
These shoes are great. Extremely warm, especially with a pair of fleece socks. It's been in the single digits here just outside Boston and my feet are never uncomfortable with these on. The aggressive tread works well on the snow (not too deep!) and the comfort level is high. Thought they'd be hard to slip on, but not so with the heel tab. If you're looking for a "clog" that you can wear during the cold months, look no further.
My 19 year old pretty much refused to consider buying boots. I saw these in your catalog and he loved the looks and when he got them --he loved everything about them--the looks --the feel--the comfort and warmth.---
These are excellent snowy weather shoes. Very warm and waterproof. They do run small though. I wear a 9.5 normally and ordered a 9. Probably could even have gone down to an 8.5.
They are very slippery on ice though, so be careful. Of course what isn't slippery on ice!
These are the best winter shoes I have. Very comfortable, no laces, great traction, and warm. A very smart shoe. They will make your feet extemely happy after 7 hours in ski boots as well.
These have to be the best pair of winter shoes I have ever worn. My feet stay dry, they stay warmer then in my boots, I have not gotten any snow inside. I love these. The traction is great even when coming in from wet surface to a dry smooth one. And I have gotten many comments on them both amazement and compliment.
I bought a pair for my wife and myself and we absolutley love the snow clogs. They are comfortable, easy to put on and take off and the traction is perfect for the snowy conditions. I recommend anyone who hangs around the slopes to treat yourself to these dogs.
Easy on and off, traction and warmth. These are the perfect approaching the approach shoe. They provide protection from the snow; like the 'rubber shoes' you wore to school as a kid, only comfortable and warm. I wear them to pack the truck and drive to the trialhead. When I return to the truck, out of my boots and back into the snowclogs. Another of life's unsung luxuries! Would highly recommned them. They run small- order 1 size bigger- that worked for me.
I bought these snowclogs to deal with the constant snow in Vermont, also the after snowdays which are mucky and worse- they are great- only thing is I disagree with the review saying to order up- Id say order down one half size as they do stretch and without laces you need some support to manuever! Buy them to stay warm, dry and to slip on and off in your daily life as well as after boarding or snowshoeing!
Bear all of the other reviews in mind, but also note that the Salomon Snow Clog is now but a pale shadow of the perfect shoe I've come to love. Sensing that I should look to find some "spares" for the pair I've been wearing almost constantly for the past 6 years, I recently ordered up 2 more, for safe-keeping. The great, grippy soles are still there, but the quality "Thinsulate" insulated uppers and insoles are now gone. In their place are insoles that the manufacturer couldnt even be bothered to glue down, and which are too wide to fit in any case. What is far, far worse is that its new thinner and flimsier uppers aren't even robust enough to deal with London rain showers, let alone the Icelandic winters my previous pair shrugged off. They're simply worlds apart from what they were before. I suggest that anyone seeking a replacement for their current pair(s) should prepare themselves for the disappointment that is bound to follow.
I purchased these after seeing a friend with a similar pair. These clogs are great for throwing on after a day of skiing or hiking to trot out to the outhouse through the snow, or just walk around town. The traction is really good, and they pop on in an instant. The neoprene uppers do a good job of keeping snow out. My only complaint is that they don't fit my heel as well as I would like--I have a little play back there. Then again, I do have funny feet--big and flat, with a skinny heel. Also, they ran a size too large on me.
DEFINITELY get a 1/2 size smaller (loosen up during the day and over the year). Year round wear is not a problem. Concerning the tread, any dry surface wear is nearly inperceptable. Fit is awesome (maybe best ever and I am a picky guy). Pull loops in back will catch the cuff of your pants when you go from sitting to standing. Look as good as they work.
Merill's are very popular in my family (3 out of 4) but they don't fit me well in the heel. I originally bought the Salomons to use after hiking/climbing but now I wear them all the time -- it's the snow clogs fall/winter/spring and my Tevas in the summer. I've worn clogs so much that I'm now on my third pair (with the 4th backup pair in the closet thanks to a great deal at backcountrystore.com).
I wear these around campus and they really distinguish themselves. They are great looking and really comfortable. I do have a serious beef though, on wet concrete, wet tile or any wet smooth surface these things are dangerous. I have to walk very gingerly over any wet smooth surface or risk ending up on my tail. However, from what Ive seen, in snowy conditions they rock. Snow clogs, work best on snow, go figure.
I never thought I'd buy slip on shoes. My mind has been changed. I thought they would allow my feet to flop around inside, but they are nice and snug with good support. They are the perfect thing to have by the door for a quick trip outside in the snow, and to wear all day.
I love the snow clogs. I plan to buy 5 more pairs before they discontinue. Superior service and excellent interaction and response from your employees. Keep up the good work!!
Those of you familiar with my reviews know I live in Helsinki, Finland. The weather here is cold, damp, snowy and quite windy. What you wear outside is very important. Salomon Snowclogs are essential for walking through fresh and recently packed snow. I must say that the "Snowclog" on ice is a different story... a slip n' slide fest awaits you!
I've walked through deep snow wearing thin socks; my feet were quite warm. The perfect sock would be a mid-weight sock when you're outdoors for an extended period of time.
Excellent all-rounders. I bought these to be my "everyday" footwear. They needed to be comfortable around the office and tough enough to handle the odd scramble up Mount Snowdon. They are. I'm actually thinking about getting a second pair already!
EXCELLENT SERVICE from BACKCOUNTRY on ordering these SOLOMON SNOW CLOGS! I wear these year around simply because I cannot find MORE COMFORTABLE (for ANY season) footwear ANYWHERE! Backcountry well deserves their excellent reputation for quality products AND quality service! Thanks, Backcountry! Noel B.
I got these as a Christmas gift and my New Year's resolution is to wear them everyday. They come through on everything they promise. So comfortable you have to get a pair to understand.
The shoes are very comfortable and work well on snow or just in the cold (they keep your feet warm). They have very little traction on ice though, so do not buy them for that purpose.
I just received my pair of Snow Clogs and they were WAY too big, which seems to contradict what two of the above reviews say. I was just about to warn everyone to order a 1/2 size smaller! Hmmm? I wonder if Salomon has overcompensated for past complaints and now made it too big?! I had to send mine back.
I ordered a pair of these a half size larger because of one of the reviews I read. Please note that I believe this is INCORRECT! The shoes I got are a full size too large.
I think these shoes need to be ordered a half size SMALLER. If you read the reviews on the women's version of these shoes they say they same thing- order a half size smaller.
The shoes themselves, from just looking at them and trying them on, seem to be very nice and comfy.
I have a pair, my husband has a pair...our boys try to steal them...they're an awesome clog. They keep your feet warm and with the deep tread you are hard pressed to get bogged down in the snow. We live and travel between up upstate NY and Massachusetts so the weather varies and this shoe is adaptable for anything!
Two other reviewers said that the shoes ran half a size too small, so I bought a size 13 instead of 12. And I really could be in a 12.5, (not available).But... I love mine! They're like wearing a set of aggressive snow tires. You DON"T slip in the snow with these things! The lugs are deep and far enough apart that they don't clog with snow. Also, just last week the ice on the front walk melted enough to transfer that non-skid pattern to the ice and make it safe again to walk out, or in, the front door. True story! -JHW
Great skoots here. Aggressive tread pattern hooks up well in the snow when walking on packed powder and the like. Listened to another reviewer and got a 1/2 size bigger....BAD IDEA! Get the shoe size you are.
Like every other pair of Salomons I've owned, these shoes are greatvery well-made and durable, and extremely comfy. But I normally wear a size 9.5 in all other Salomons I've owned, and I ordered a 10 in these, figuring I'm mostly be wearing them in the dead of winter with thick socks, and they were HUGE! Exchanged them for a 9, which I think will still be plenty big with woolies.
Compared to the model sold 2 years ago, these are sized a little more generously than the others, therefore, ordering a shoe true to fit is essential. Otherwise, the shoe lacks nothing it should, and has all the great capability with its incredible gripping soles.
They are the most comfortable shoes I ever had. No matter what kind of activities I'm doing, I feel like I'm wearing slippers! The comfort is incredible and I would recommend them 100% to anybody. I love my new shoes!
