Salomon Scarlet Ski - Women's - 2008

From charging down steep faces to stomping tricks off cliff bands, the Salomon Scarlet Alpine Ski gives hardcore, freeride women the performance to show the boys what's up. This women's-specific big mountain ski's wide platform gives you the float to destroy the powder, while the twintip design lets you ride switch. Salomon's dampening Isocell Complex foam core cuts the chatter when you're threading the needle, and the Spaceframe construction cuts down on weight, making the Scarlet a little more forgiving than her older brother—the Gun. Worried about durability? Don't be. Wider edges and edge reinforcement help the Scarlet Ski stand up to the occasion rock, rail, and anything else the mountain throws at you.

Bottom Line: Paint the mountain red with the Salomon Scarlet Alpine Ski.

Salomon Scarlet First Class All the Way

By:

I'm 5'3" tall and 123 pounds. I'm an aggressive all mountain skier. I find these skis incredibly maneuverable in even the deepest snow. You can actually use them to do a modified "carve", even in really deep snow. They respond quickly and the float is super. They're at their best on soft snow, and in very deep, not so great on hard pack piste. But, the key to using them on the piste is to adjust your stance to slightly wider than usual. This allows these skis to carve beautifully. I have the 154cm and would not want longer. I think that almost any level of skier could enjoy these. But they really come alive in the deep stuff. I would not choose them as an all-mountain ski, that I would leave to the Salomon Lady.

I bought the 2007 scarlets on steep and cheap and love everything about them. They are great in deep pow, fun on groomers and I can take them in the park with no problems. Awesome all mountain skis. I am 5'8, 140lbs and have the 164's. I would highly recommend these skis for aggressive skiing girls who like to rip it anywhere and everywhere.

Fun ski.

These skis float like a dream on untracked powder. They do however require a little work in crud. Overall, a really fun ski and good for light females ( I am 5'6" and 125 lbs) who want to rip hard in deep pow.
