The Salomon Women's Miss Maya Short Jacket gives you the warmth of down, without looking like you just got back from an expedition to Denali. This down insulated ski jacket's slim fit doesn't drown your curves, which makes it as appropriate for chilling out in town as bombing the steeps at your local resort. The Miss Maya Jacket's ClimaPro outer fabric stops wind and water in its tracks, protecting the loft of the down fill. Warm up cold hands in this Salomon down jacket's 2 front pockets, and keep your iPod in the interior hidden pocket. In really cold conditions, cinch up the full-time hood to seal out drafts.
Bottom Line: The Salomon Miss Maya Short Jacket—despite the lack of puffiness, this jacket is WARM.
is the fur trim real? also, im 5'8", 135 lbs. i have a slightly shorter torso, but i dont like my back being exposed - is this jacket long enough? i would also like something in this style/color, but with a little bit more figure-flattering (ie slim) style - more tight around the waist. any recommendations & answers are appreciated!
Sizing: I'm comfortable with the Medium (5' 5" and 130 lbs) it leaves enough room for me to wear a sweater underneath. Like others mentioned, the coat is probably be too short for the slopes (doesn't cover the rear and no powder skirt). I love this coat though because: 1) It keeps me WARM during the cold winters in Utah and 2) It is CUTE enough to wear around town, around campus, and to work. So while it may fall a little short (no pun intended :D) when it comes to tearing up the slopes, it is a gorgeous and functional coat for everyday traipsing through the snow and cold.
LOVE this jacket. Love the warmth, the color, the style...but it is very short (as stated by the name!). I am 5'9" 145lbs and the large fit perfectly except for the body length. Had to return it.
This is a pretty jacket and warm, but not that practical if spending much time outdoors. It would be nice for someone who plans to go sking but spending more time in and around the lodge rather than on the slopes.
I was very nervous about purchasing online after reading the "length" issues for this jacket. (Too short) But alas, WHAT A JACKET! When I'm skiing, I don't care about anything, except keeping warm. This jacket provides excellent coziness, and lots of mobility. The length was not an issue at all for me, and in fact, I found it much better than the traditional longer fitting ski jackets. And at the price it sold for, it was a no-brainer! BUY IT!
I really like this jacket, but I'm concerned about how big around it is at the bottom. I wear a jean size with a 36 inch waist. I noticed that your largest size of XL shows a maximum waist size of 35. Plus, I plan to wear bib overall snow pants underneath it, so would I have trouble zipping up a size XL because I'm too fat?
Very warm - I was often horribly hot even with just a thin single base layer, so no doubt great if you are skiing somewhere very cold. Lots of pockets which are great because I hate carrying bags. Definitely waterproof (I fell over lots on day 1 and day 2. Not particularly nipped in at the waist so you wouldn't look skinny even if you are, but plenty of room for layering if necessary.
This is a great jacket! It is super warm and very well made. I ordered the red and it is great; the color is more flat than it appears on the website, but I actually prefer it that way. The only downside to this jacket is that it doesn't quite compact itself the way many down jackets do. It is made to be worn around town, and will take up a lot of space if you're trying to pack it.
I purchased the Miss Maya Short Jacket in burgundy. I didn't have the opportunity to wear it but once because the weather was mild. It seemed very warm and comfortable. I purchased it for $99. Two weeks later the same coats were $53.99-59.99. I called and Backcountry said that they can adjust the price since it was less than 30 days. I was estatic. But then after being placed on hold I was told that I could not receive the price match. Apparently the burgundy coat which was a last year color was not able to be price matched. I still do not understand why they can not make the adjustment. I reordered the coat in Brown at the lower price but my family and I prefer the burgundy. I don't understand why I have to pay $40 more for an older color. Overall it is a great coat.
