Tired of those goofy ankle-sock tan lines? The SmartWool Women's PhD Running Light Micro Sock provides comfortable moisture management, a ridiculously comfortable fit, and no tan lines. SmartWool's Merino-blend material regulates your temperature while you run, venting moisture away from your foot. The PhD's SmartFit system hugs your foot with a four-point banded compression system that offers a close fit on the heel, arches, and across the top of your foot—say good bye to migrating sock syndrome. Extra cushioning under the PhD Running Ultra Light Micro Sock's forefoot and heel help you run farther and longer.
These socks are great for running or the gym, and I even wind up wearing them just around the house. The PhD compression bands make the sock fit tighter than other SmartWool socks, which just means the sock is extra supportive. My feet feel great after wearing SmartWool! The celadon/silver is very pretty.
I'm in love with these socks! Since I tried them, I won't wear any other kind. They are light and supportive and totally low profile. Their suggested retail of $11.95 is pushing it, so I was glad to see Backcountry's nicer price of $8.96. Atleast try them!
I wear a size 10 and got a L, but they were too big, although they did shrink a bit after the first wash. I would get a M next time, but otherwise they are great.
It seems like socks are never as "ultra light" as you would expect from a description like "ultra light." So i expected them to be a little thinner. Not that bad though, very supportive, quality fabrics. I might go up a size next time as i am right on border of sizes. I wear a 9.5 and the medium is suppose to go up to 9.5, but they feel really snug in the forefoot and heel so I might go for the L next time.
