A thermos is great to bring when you're hiking, but drinking out of one can be a burn-gamble. Thanks to the Stanley Drink Bottle's unique design, this thermos closes like a bottle and yet you drink out if it like a mug. The double-wall, stainless steel vacuum insulation keeps your coffee or tea hot. Pack the 16oz Drink Bottle in your backpack and hit the trail.
Bottom Line: Stanley's 16oz Drink Bottle makes it easy to keep coffee warm, and actually drink it, on the trail.
The durability of the lids is horrible. I have one and i got one for my boyfriend and both of them broke. The threads in the lids cracked and caused the bottle to leak. I am trying to get replacement parts but Stanley hasn't been very responsive. The concept is GREAT and I love it until the tops broke. Now i am on the hunt for a new coffee mug. I am really disappointed.
This thing is built well. As a coffee cup snob, I've gone through my share of packable bottles. While my previous one from Thermos had a cap that enclosed the drinking lip, it was too small, and not built as sturdy. 16oz is perfect and the build quality is superb. In addition, the cap can be completely disassembled for easily cleaning. As the poster above mentioned, thermally, its working very well. I've tried ice water in it so so far, and after about 3 hours, my ice cubes are only a slightly melted. If you need a secure closing commuter cup and willing to pay a few extra dollars for quality. I highly reccomend this cup. The unique copper I got is also a plus. On a side note, the Stanley logo is a sticker which was easy to peel off.
This bottle replaces and 10 year old steel travel mug. I love the top - no spill. Took a little getting used to turning the top to drink. The orange color is great, hand washes well, keeps my coffee very warm even in the cold weather. I would buy another and I may!!!
Instructions say handwash only. Not sure what the top plastic is made from.----------It's best not to put the Stanley Drink Bottle into the dishwasher because the super-hot water and harsh soap will destroy the vacuum seals needed to keep the contents hot (or cold). This includes the lid, etc. as well because it contains seals (ie. O-Rings) needed to prevent it from leaking. The best way to clean it is by using a long-handled brush and mild dishwashing soap. Because the lid comes apart very easily this is one of the more simple thermos' to hand wash.
This is my 2nd thermos of this type. My girl friend's dog chewed part of the inner plastic and although it can still be used, and the part can be replaced, I went for a new container altogether. When I go to my regular morning coffee-hangout, 7:30 AM, I use my "mug" there, save ten cents and keep my coffee warmer while I am there. When I leave around 9:AM, with a refill, I often (still) have warm coffee at 1:00 PM. The damn thing is just the best- performs well, nice design and color choices and is very rugged - unless there is a coffee loving hound around. I also purchased the 2nd one for $6 less than the first (which I bought in a retail outlet), got free shipping and no tax! BRAVO STANLEY! BRAVO Backcountry! bob d
There is nothing worse then going to drink you coffee and it being room temperature. This mug eliminates that issue. I put my coffee in there at 8:15am and it's now 11:30am and the coffee is still HOT. The other amazing feature is that it doesn't leak. I mean throw it in you pack next to your computer and don't worry, you won't fry anything and more importantly you will still have hot coffee when you want it. The lid even has a locking feature so you can't unscrew it from the base when you are trying to open the sipping feature. The only thing i wish it had was full handle, but this isn't too bad and it can be clipped on without worrying about it breaking. I can't wait to use it for hiking and ski touring.
