Not into puffy insulation and faux fur? Grab the Special Blend Men's Utility Jacket. This snowboard shell's 15K-rated waterproof fabric and fully taped seams keep you dry all winter long, and with no puffy insulation, you won't overheat on spring days. The Utility Jacket's Underarm zips dump hot air during hardcore park sessions, and the zip-off powder skirt blocks snow invasions. This Special Blend snowboard shell's baggy fit leaves you plenty of room to layer, the hood adds warmth, and big front pockets hold your essentials.
Bottom Line: Special Blend's Utility Jacket doesn't mess with fake animal fur or out-of-control puffy insulation, just straight-up utility.
So i'm really sold on this jacket and i'm trying to figure out the sizing. I'm 5' 11'' 175 lbs. I dont really like my jackets baggy, I feel like I should go with the medium but I dont want it to be really tight. Help?
Takes about 10min to find all the little features built into this jacket! Excellent shell for the money, high waterproof rating should keep me plenty dry this season snowboarding. Keep in mind this had NO insulation, it is purely a shell so be prepared to layer on cold days. The only small gripe with it is the sizing. I bought a small and I'm about 5'10" 140lbs and this thing fits pretty gangster. It'll go well with my baggy Foursquare pants, but there is no way I could wear this around town like my Sessions jacket.
Overall very nice quality and finish, tons of little details added in by SB (Cool metal hardware etc).
My friend has the sb signature jacket and i love the material and the way it feels... I like the design of this jacket better tho. Has anybody seen both of these jackets and can u tell me if the material on this jacket is similar to the signature and if it fits simarly. Thank u
The signature Jacket is Gore-Tex. This utility jacket is not. They feel different. I know Backcountry has the Autograph jacket in stock, it also is Gore-Tex. Check it out.
This jacket is great, basically. Originally, without any prior knowledge of SB products, I ordered a M cuz I'm size M in everything else (5'9", 145) and I was swimming in it. Some of my more gangster friends liked it that way, but I'm more low-key than str8 g if you know what I'm sayin. Anyway, I returned it for a small and it fits perfect now. It feels real heavy when I pick it up, but the weight isn't noticeable when it's on. The color I got is like the brown plaid one (perhaps last yr's model), which is quite baller if I do say so myself. The outside is like cloth-feeling texture, but literally the first time I wore it out it was pouring rain at the bottom of the mountain and snowing at the top, and I was completely dry either way. Totally baller+functional. The liner is awesome, too. I wish I could get underpants made out of the same material. There's not really any insulation in this jacket, but the most I've worn under it is like a short sleeve t-shirt and some long underwear and I've never really been cold in it. In fact, when I get warm in it, the pit zips work great. I used it from Thanksgiving to Spring Break, and it's great for all temps/weather. So now ur asking is this too good to be true, sir. No it is not, is the answer. That being said, I do have a couple nitpicks for ya. First, part of the cuff of this jacket is like some kind of neoprene, which, when my glove gauntlet gets soaked, gets soaked by proxy, and then my long underwear cuff gets wet and I get angry, which is good for nobody. Secondly, there's like two pieces of velcro on the flaps in addition to the zipper to the two side pockets and I can undo the zipper just fine, but the velcro is sometimes a little obnoxious to open, too, like w/ gloves or whatever. But really, the cuffs don't get wet that often and I probly need new gloves anyway there like 10 years old, and what do I ever put in those pockets to begin with? There's like 800 pockets located elsewhere. So who cares. It's completely quality all-around and I'm totally sold on SB stuff now. To summarize for ya book report style, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good time/jacket.
