While you won’t be stirring the ocean’s currents or issuing judgment on passing sea-goers with SOG’s Trident Knife, you will be able to take care of any task you can think of with its locking technology and versatile blade. The Trident isn’t stupid-proof, but it’s close. Once you engage the pass-through bar, S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) uses opposing, high-tension coil springs to open and lock the blade, and the color-coded safety lock makes safety even more of a no-brainer. The Trident’s groove handle offers protected, un-opened access to the knife blade—great for cutting ropes and fishing line. The belt clip on the handle provides great stow-on-the-go access. SOG’s Digi-Grip pattern and lightweight Zytel handle offer dependable grip even when wet.
I have carried a pair of SOG Powerpliers Multi-Tool for eight years on fishing and hiking trips and they have held up amazingly well. So when I needed a new folding knife I went right back to SOG. The Trident was definitly the right choice. The Trident is extremely light for the size of the blade and I have found that the recurved bowie style blade is better for most tasks than a stright edge. The handle is very grippy and the arc lock makes one handed closing of the blade a lot safer than liner locks. The only draw back is that there is a little bit of blade play, but that is normal for an assisted opening knife.
Best knife I have ever owned! This knife is razor sharp out of the box and holds a great edge. I use this knife for an all around knife when I'm hunting/camping etc. I like the feature of being able to cut rope without having to open the knife. The assisted opening device works fantastically as well. If you're looking for a sharp, dependable, great all around knife....look no further!
I have a SOG Trident, I suppose it will need sharpening at some point in time. Is there anything published that demonstrates the proper way to sharpen the knife?
I bought this knife for daily carry and adventure races. I like the spring loaded assist and the mechanical safety for when I do not anticipate needing the knife in a quick defensive manner. It is extremely light weight, sharp, and fairly well constructed. The cord cut capability without opening the blade is excellent for use with 550 cord. I recommend this knife if you are in the market for a mid price knife that will see field work. I like knives with both standard and serrate blades. For me, this is the best of both worlds.
I love SOG knifes. I have yet to break 1. The come RAZOR sharp and r designed beautifully. I love the clips they have, they make the knife sit nice and low in the pocket so that they don't get caught on things. Lots of SOG knifes r also used and designed for the military, so the r meant to last. Bottom line is if u want the best production knife u can get, get SOG.
