Asia meets the Backcountry in these innovative utensils by Snow Peak. Their compact and portable chopsticks have been well received, and are popular among backpackers and climbers. Chopsticks replace spoon, fork and knife. Not just for camp—take 'em anywhere. They come with a compact chopstick case with strap and Velcro closure that fits in one hand. Birch tips store inside the stainless steel tops. Simply unscrew steel top covers, and slip the tips inside. Durable and super light (1 oz.), these chopsticks travel well, and are the handy dandiest.
The general quality of this product is good; light, easy to carry in a pouch, easy assembly and easy maintenance. The price is satisfactory. But you must be careful to assemble parts, especially on the caps on top of the bodies. The carrying pouch should be improved not to let the chopsticks let easily out or drop out of it.
These chop-sticks are perfect for those who want to take 'em with them on the trail or even a restaurant, although I don't think I would do that...The construction is very solid and the feel of the stainless is nice and the solid birch or whatever wood used for the lower portion is very nice and coarse enough to offer some grip...I am a gadget guy and got these as a gift for someone who doesn't camp much, but will probably get lots of use at picnics.... If you own a Titanium fork/spoon/spork set, you will want these....
Anyone who prefers chopsticks to a knife and fork, or just likes to take a break from the ordinary should purchase this product. They are a clean, uncomplicated, exquisite design. The wood is of excellent quality and contrasts beautifully to the brushed metal. The balance and weight of these chopsticks are designed so ergonomically well that they feel vertually like a natural extension of your hand. That you can take them anywhere as a compact "kit" adds to their practicality. When you go out for your meals and take the chopsticks out of their handy case, be prepared for onlookers watching you assemble the pieces. As their interest peaks, they will inveriably comment on the creativity and clever design of the chopsticks as well as your ingenuity in using them for eating salads, pasta, chili, or whatever you may be consuming at the time! Buy this product--you won't be sorry.
I bought these to be my everyday chopsticks. I take them to work, and use them at home all the time. The quality of craftsmanship is very impressive. I love that they come in a small container, and that they collapse since carrying full sized chopsticks is a bit difficult.
The negatives: I wish they were longer when extended. Im used to big blocky Chinese sticks and these took some getting used to. Also the heft took getting used to as well.
The only other problem would be that I would dread trying to clean the whole thing. So far, I just clean the part that gets food on it.
All in all, I am very happy with them. They are the only chopsticks I can keep in my pocket.
I ordered a bunch of these as gifts for a family reunion at the Yosemite National Park. Very good design and very practical in actual use. The only drawback is that some of my relatives considered them too nice, too beautiful as gifts, and didn't actually use them on the road and on hikes. Great for eating fried rice from a sandwich bag!
I love taking these chopstick with me everywhere. I get a kick out of watching the reaction I get from people in a restaurant when I pull them out of my purse. They're with me in the backcountry, at work and dining out. I love them!
If you find yourself asking what happened to all the food you had just made while youre sitting around your camp these are a must. Helped me slow down and enjoy my meals a little more. Packs away small. P.S not good for soup.
