Wear the Smith Holt Skullcandy Audio Helmet on the slopes and in the skate park too. This brain bucket's got it all: AirEvac design maximizes helmet and goggle airflow to prevent fogging in the winter, and the convertible ear pad kit adapts for use when you're riding on cement instead of snow. And whether your board has wheels or not, the Holt's bombshell ABS Construction protects your noggin' when things go awry. The standard audio jack goes straight from your ear pads to your mp3 player, or even a cassette player if you're the die-hard salty old-school type.
Bottom Line: Even if you haven't hit it big in the videos, your rides (and falls) deserve a soundtrack.
This helmet is awesome. First of all the sound system in it is great. Skullcandy makes some good speakers with awesome sound. For those new to an audio helmet the cord plugs into the bottom of your left earpiece and then about 10 inches down has volume control with a clip on it to attach to the top of your coat or shirt. From there the cord continues to plug into your i-pod or mp3 player. It just has a normal headphone jack along w/ a smaller jack for certain cell phones. As for the helmet itself, I can't complain. I use it mostly for snowboaring. It fits very comfortable and is light enough that I often forget I'm wearing it. It's comes with vents to keep your head from sweating to death but is warm enough that I rarely have to wear a beanie to keep my ear and head warm enough. As for size, just measure your head and go w/ what the size chart says, it's right on. One last thing with the speakers. At high speeds you may not be able to hear super well. Let's just say they aren't powerful enough to blow your eardrums, but plenty loud enough to hear unless you're half deaf already or going down the hill in a 40 mph head wind. I'm completely satisfied.
So which head circumference is it? The holt sizing or the adult helmet sizing. My friend has a large of the bern baker hard hat audio helmet and his large fits me. The circumference for that is 57-59 so I was just wondering which would fit me for this helmet. Also which one do you recommend?
This helmet is the best. It fits well and it looks great. I love the audio factor as my ears don't hurt after half a day of skiing. This helmet fitted well with my smith phenom goggles and it didn't have any gap.
I bought three of these - 1 for me and for my kids to use for snowboarding. Great helmets - they protect your skull and keep your head and ears warm at the same time. Awesome helmets.
got the matte white in medium. seems true to size, comfy, warm but vents well when hot out, has lasted hit after hit (structurally that is) and the audio sound is so crisp. i love the on/off button mid-way down the head phone cord...it allows you to hit a button and the sounds goes off. as you know, this is very handy when someone starts conversation with you and you dont have to roll down the volume or take out the actual ipod to shut press pause. my bern helmets (baker and macon) dont have this feature on the audio so it is a plus worth mentioning if you're trying to pick a helmet. the only thing is my left speaker quit working...but i did use the helmet around 50 days and bounced my head off the ground often in the park.
Is there any benefit, other than price, to buying the Holt with the Skullcandy already in it? Or vice versa? Specifically, if you buy the holt and then buy the skullcandy audio system separately then would you have ear pads without speakers and earpads with speakers
I haven't had a chance to use the helmet yet, but it fits great and is very comfortable. Only two minor complaints; the air vents are opened by removing a piece of foam from the inside which is under the liner, it's not difficult, but can't be done very quickly. Also, the Velcro attached to the helmet is small and one came off as soon as I tried to pull out the liner. I would suggest either buying some good glue or even replacing the Velcro with larger, better quality stuff.
I used the helmet for 7 days in Wyoming. I took out the foam inside to let the vents be open the hole time. Temps ranged from ZERO and blizzard conditions to 30 and sunny and I was fine with no beanie or anything under the helmet. I wore Zeal Link PPX (Polarized Photochromatic) goggles with the helmet and it is a seamless fit. The only thing I would change is remove the volume control from the mute clicker piece. I wanted the volume all the way up all the time and it would sometimes get turned down by accident while riding.
I purchased the Lago Pro Model about a month and a half ago and I love it. Great sound and very cool looking helmet. I can't imagine ever skiing without audio again. Only thing is that the chin strap is a little short but it still fits great just wish I had a little more slack. I highly recommend this helmet!
Love this helmet. Audio is nice, with ipod all the way up and headphones up sounds like crap, but there is a nice level that is about perfect. Fit is great, even for my big head. Chin strap is nice and comfy and i think it looks great. Didn't need a beanie when about 20ish out, but when you do it fits fine, just get a thin beanie.
Hey Guys, what means "holt"? has it any relevance in which size I order it?the size chart says it is so! what do you mean?my head circumference is 62-63 cmhope for an answer!Farewell
second head cover with skull candy;like this style better- took out for first run at Brighton and it saved my stylish good hair from an out of control idiot. Have first ding of the season. Cool enough in warm weather with all vents open and rode still on my head. two thumbs up. great price
After my last trip, i took a few diggers and decided i should invest in a helmet. Not gonna lie, it was an impulse buy when i saw it, cuz the matte white looked awesome. I am really glad i got this one. Last time iw as on the mountain, it was 20 degrees with 15 mile an hour wind, and i didnt even need a beanie. The audio on these is great too. When you turn it up, you are in your own little world. The only thing i dont like is the fact that the audio cord it came with is very touchy, so sometimes it cuts out and you have to wiggle it around. It mght just be a one time thing, but its really not that big of a deal. Overall, buy this one, you wont regret it
this helmet is bomb.. if you're not wearing one this winter you know your not cool, so buy it now!! seriously the music sounds great and it protects your noggin, what else could you ask fer?
I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but it comes with additional padding to add or remove to help fit snug or loosen up. And then of course you can adjust the chin strap. But as far as any tightening/loosening device inside the actual part of the helmet doesn't exist with this one.
The quality of the speakers in these headphones is incredible, these are definitely authentic skullcandys. The white finish on mine does scratch up, but much less then i expected it to, and the scratches look badass anyway. just get this helmet!
No kits needed here. Just take the helmet out of the box, plug one side of the cord into your helmet, and the other side into your ipod and your jamming to music.
i love this helmet it fits great and the vents are good, a lot cooler than my old helmet and i can't close the vents which isn't good on those cold days. my biggest problem, and still minor was the audio cable that came with it. either i already broke it or the actual head phones are jacked.
Well assuming the helmet and the kit are both the same size, just pull out the ear muff parts on the helmet. They snap in by the ears and velcro around the sides. And put in new audio ones.
This helmet is awesome. The audio sounds great and it has a really easy plug/attachment for your ipod, making it easy to turn up, lower, or mute the volume with your gloves on. The size was pretty accurate, I need a beany to help it fit more snug, but when it warms up I can always just add the extra padding it comes with.
It comes with a cable that plugs into the left ear piece of the helmet, and then the other end of the cable has to jacks. One for your normal headphones, and another smaller jack for certain cell phones and what not.
This is a great helmet. I am an avid skier and was unsure how I would cope with wearing a helmet for the first time. It was surprisingly comfortable at a temperature of about 20 degrees, much more so than a wool cap. The fit was accurate, the lining was not itchy, and the ventilation seemed fine. I appreciated the extra set of pads for when the lining and ear pads are removed on warm spring days. My only very small complaint is that the male connector on the wire adapter that connected to my iPhone frequently fell out of the helmet's female connector. I guess sometimes this issue is not so easily resolved. I fixed this by rotating the plug up and under the loop through which the chin strap is placed. It would be pretty cool to add a microphone to the wire adapter so that the helmet could be used simultaneously with a cell phone.
I am completely stoked and satisfied with the recent addition to my skiing ensemble. The Smith Holt with Skullcandy audio is an awesome buy; I purchased it on sale but after using it several times and unintentionally putting it to the test on the mountain during a hard fall, I would happily pay full price. It certainly gets sweet style points (I have the "Cement Throwing Stars"), and it also stood up to impact and protected my noggin during a gnarly crash on a rare non-powder day in Utah... Hit my head pretty hard but both me and the helmet came back up unscathed. The fit is excellent, keeps my head warm without a beanie and also offers great ventilation without being itchy or uncomfortable. The Skullcandy audio is an added and welcome bonus to this killer helmet. Buy it!
This is probably the best helmet out there for the price. The Smith Holt Skullcandy Audio Helmet is a good looking helmet, with lots of vents for the hotheads like me, and the speakers in the ear pads are great. The helmet to ipod connecting cord seemed a little cheap and would crackle sometimes when it got jarred around, but this was a quick fix with a higher quality cable. The sound is great for the price and gets more than loud enough for me. It's also a perfect gap-free fit with my Smith I/O goggles.
Picked up the Black Holt and I love it the Audio is excellent..You need to figure out a good place to keep your volume control and mute remote.I have mine currently up at my neck but still have some trouble getting it at..The Matte Black scratches pretty easy so be careful where you put it when transporting but overall great helmet ..Comfortable and looks great.

Do the Ear Muffs that come with the Smith Holt have speakers in them or do you have to buy skullcandy speakers separately?

Must share...the speakers work great...it's the volume control slider that is totally cheap and causes problems!! Not waterproof and cheaply built.
