Smith 2007 Holt Single Shot Skullcandy Audio Helmet - 2006
Turn up the tunes and protect your dome with Smith's Holt Helmet with Single Shot Skull Candy Audio Accessory. The Holt Helmet includes airflow ventilation for seasonal climate control, snapfit ear pads that remove easily for summer use, and an Air mesh Techliner that wicks like crazy and removes quickly for washing. The AirEvac design ensures your goggles stay fog-free all day. A standard audio jack on the Single Shot Skull Candy Audio Accessory lets you bring along your CD player, MP3 player, or (if you're really old-school) cassette deck.
Bottom Line: Rock out with your…er…just rock out and protect your head with this Smith helmet.
I have been a Smith fan for years and they have always been counted on for quality. Their Skull Candy audio attatchments are absolute junk. Cheap, illfitting, junk. Good helmet, not the best, but good. The audio earpieces are not the same as the ones Smith builds into the helmet and they frequently fall out. They are a hassle and not worth a dime. Wait untill next year, maybe Smith will get it together.
This Helmet is pretty sweet! so far the audio hasn't died like the other guy said. the connector could be a little easier to get at. but overall the helmet rocks. i like the ventilation options as well.
Correct me if i'm wrong but if i buy this helmet then it has every thing i need to hook my ipod up to it and listen to tunes? Or do i have to buy other certain cords or something? And does music come out of both ears?
It's all ready to go. And yes, it comes out of both earpieces. The audio set comes with one cord that has one end where you plug in to the helmet (left earpiece) and the other end has two connecters. One is your normal sized headphone plug, and the other is a slightly smaller one built to use with certain cell phones.
I have about 15 days on my Holt now and I haven't had many issues at all with it. I had a Variant Brim before, and found that most of the "features" broke. I like the helmet clip much better than the snap on the Variant. This helmet does have a bit less venting than the Variant, but the vents have never broken.
The only issue I have had is with the singleshot. The speakers sound great and everything, but the controller for the ipod is awkward to use with a glove on. The volume knob also gets turned quite frequently on accident. I haven't found that great of a place for it to avoid that.
Overall, this is the best helmet I have owned and I am quite picky. Solid design that doesn't have silly features that just end up breaking when you need them.
It comes with a cord where one end plugs into the left earpiece, then like 10 or so inches down is the volume/mute control device with a clip on it that you can use to attach to the top of your shirt or coat. Then at the other end of the cable are two jacks. One is the normal size jack for headphones/ipod/mp3, and the other is a slightly smaller jack for certain cell phones.
I bought the Holt with the single-shot Skullcandy accessory. The liner is very nice and breathable. The chin strap is well padded and comfortable. I like the venting on the front that forces air into the top of your goggles. Overall the Holt is well-built. Not quite as lite as some others, but I like the style. The connecting cord is mediocre, thus the 4 rating. I had some trouble with the Skullcandy connection at the ear piece. Sound only came out of one side. I called and they sent a replacement with no further discussion. I'm very pleased with the service. You can pull out the liner and insert pads for skateboarding. Now that I have a skateboard helmet, perhaps I should pick up a board.
I think the sizing chart is correct. I measured my head the way the chart says and ordered what size corresponded with it. If you're halfway inbetween 2 sized, I'd definately go up a size though.
As a snowboard instructor, i love my Smith Holt Audio. It allows me to to hear my students, yet still keeps my ears warm. The only issue i have with it, is during free riding. Slight movements of the wire's cancel out the sound. And the mute button is way to sensitive. Any brushing on it, impedes how it plays.
However, over all, i would recommend this helmet. I dont regret purchasing it at all.
I bought the Smith holt w/skullcandy hookup, and finally got a chance to try it. It feels good to wear, and looks pretty good too. The only negative thing about this helmet is the audio. The sound is not at all what I had expected. Other than that a great purchase, and I don't regret it!
