Sierra Designs Hurricane Parka - Women's - 2007

Sierra Designs' Hurricane LT Parka is a lightweight, waterproof, breathable jacket designed to keep your core dry in the rainiest and sweatiest of conditions. Two-layers of waterproof/breathable coating on a nylon fabric and fully taped seams will keep the rain from getting in. Breathable fabric allows sweaty moisture vapors to escape—so your core won't smother. Patented Extremity Vents extend from the wrist to upper arm, create the effect of “rolling up your sleeves” without getting wet. This lightweight shell travels well. Ideal for high-aerobic activities such as backpacking and running, or for less-sweaty activities such as rainy-day urban assaults.

Bottom Line: The Hurricane LT Parka is a lightweight shell that features fully-taped, waterproof construction at a price that won't soak you.

Price V. Quality

By:

There are only two things about this product that I am not happy with:
The hood on the size small is too small. The velcro on the sleeve tends to get caught on the velcro along the front zipper if the jacket is not zipped up.
Other than those two issues, it was a good buy for the price.

Hurricane Parka - Women's

By:
March 9, 2007

I returned this jacket. I was looking for something that i could use for running. When I received this it reminded me of the old "slickers." It felt cold and clammy on the inside. It wasn't what i was looking for.

Great for backpacking

By:

I bought one for myself and boyfriend and they are perfect for rain gear in your backpack while hiking. Also came in handy on our whale watching excursion while many people were stuck inside to avoid the cool ocean breeze. If you have one of these you will be prepared for anything!

Great waterproofing and easy packability

By:
January 12, 2007

I was impressed with the color, the fit, and the waterproofing of the jacket, as well as the ease of packing into the little case it came in (i could hook it outside of my backpack.)
I was disappointed that the main zipper was low quality, and i had numerous difficulties with the zipper coming undone at the bottom or getting stuck on the way down.

Great all-purpose travel jacket!

By:

My husband and I each purchased this waterproof jacket for our 1st trip to Alaska. It served as EXCELLENT protection against rain, wind and cold. Generous sizing allowed me to wear over turtleneck and sweatshirt layers. Zipper vents and inside pockets very useful. Pleased that I was able to easily wipe jacket clean as incidental spotting occured. Will take this jacket on EVERY future vacation!

Singing in the rain

By:
May 30, 2005

I have only had my Hurricane LT Parka for about a month now and I don't know how I lived without it. Even on those hot spring afternoon showers, my jacket kept me from overheating while shedding off those rain drops. Sprinkling or a down pour, it kept me dry. The arm vents work wonders! The only problem I had was that the jacket ran a little big - which actually allows me to add more layers if I need to. The front is a little bulky too, but performance wise, the Hurricane Parka can't be beat!

hurricane parka

By:
April 17, 2006

I love my Hurricane Parka! I just had a trip to the South Island in New Zealand where it is cold and snowy right now. The parka was perfect for keeping out the cold wind and the sudden rain showers. Great for layering and it keeps me dry, can't ask for more!

keeping dry rules

By:
April 19, 2006

This parka is a great value! It rolls up nice for easy carrying and keeps me dry. I’ve used it for hiking and biking in some serious rain. I like the VELCRO/zip combination for the pockets and front closures. Dries quickly. Lightweight but sturdy. Well made. Many uses ahead... I probably don’t look so sexy, but nobody sees me when I’m using it. That’s why it gets 4 stars.

Great for College

By:
August 25, 2006

I got my jacket a few weeks ago, and I have already used it many times since I moved. The jacket doesn't let any water get on you at all and does not soak up the water like some jackets. In other words, I love this jacket!!! It has made my start in college a lot nicer on those rainy days.

Perfect for backpacking

The Hurricane Parka is just what I was looking for. I needed a light weight jacket that would pack into a small compartment. I love how that jacket is lined. It keeps all the rain out. Prefect for backpacking and climbing.
