Salomon STH 16 Ski Binding - 2008

The Salomon STH 16 Alpine Ski Binding gives aggressive freeskiers and terrain-parkonauts bomber metal durability and high-DIN retention. Salomon beefed up the heel and toe piece of their popular S-series binding with all-metal housings, then put a stomp pedal in front of the toe piece for shock absorption. Micro-adjustable toepiece wings connect precisely with your boot shells for optimal power transmission and torque sensitivity, so whether you're launching off kickers in comps or cliffs on a gnarly AK descent, the STH 16 will keep you locked in, releasing only when there is potential for injury.

Bottom Line: Want something more solid? Carve it from stone yourself.

Fantastic binding

Great Binding for aggressive heavier skiers. They are burly and fairly lightweight when compared to other high DIN bindings from other manufacturers. Solid!

The 130mm brakes will, although they might be a little wide. The Marker Griffon/Jester com with 110mm brakes that would fit (might need a touch of bending).

Bomber!

By:
January 2, 2009

Now that the 916 has been dropped from the Sally binding lineup, these are there highest din, burliest binding. These things a super bomber. This binding only has the metal where necessary to lighten them up. They have excellent energy transfer, and great retention as well. These bad boys start at a din of 9, so if you aren't super heavy, or extremely aggressive, stay away from these. You will likely not release. The updated graphic is sick too. White looks so awesome.

The stock brake is 100mm but will fit up 105mm, after that you can start bending.

great solly binding

i usually ski dynastar/rossi/look bindings, but i couldn't find one large enough to fit my armada ARG's. These have done a great job on my powder boards, though i have found that on a 10 din setting, they have released on me once or twice in pretty small crashes.

I can't yet comment on the durability, but they look like they are built to last.

I was just wondering if these are solid bindings. Are they durable or have people had problems with them. Would you recommend them?

I would highly recommend these binding they come from their race background and have always been solid enough to hold a pair of skis to someone approaching 80mph.I mounted these on my hellbents, there absolutly wonderful. i am a lighter guy but like a highter din. they work amazing, they will keep you in when it matters most.aswell with they are somewhat spring loaded so snow doesnt cake in them aswell after hiking

Tough!

These bindings are built to last. They have a very solid metal construction with reinforced areas to ensure they hold up. The din ranges from 9 to 16 so you can really crank them down. Because of the metal components they are heavier then a regular Salomon bindings but still light compared to other bindings in its class. Great compliment for a powder ski!
