Salomon F22 Snowboard Boot - Men's - 2008

The Salomon Men's F22 Snowboard Boot—Salomon’s all-mountain classic is comin’ back for more. These boots get it done from the peak to the park with a low-profile fit, a mid-stiff flex, and lot of comfort. Salomon’s Autofit Self 2 Reflex liner has memory foam and self-adapting material to adjust to your foot throughout the day—custom comfort straight outta the box, in other words. The Integrated Active Tongue’s PU insert allows you to dial in the F22's flex—the more you tighten, the stiffer the boot gets. The Impact outsole dampens vibrations, cushions impacts, yet doesn’t sacrifice board feel, and Salomon's quick-pull lacing system gets you on the hill in record time.

Bottom Line: The any terrain destroyer.

Stiff slippers

These boots are excellent. I ride in the Bozeman, MT area mostly, and in my last few pairs of boots, I would get sore feet after a hard day of riding, but on in these. These have great foot support and they lace as tight as you want them. The external lacing system is near flawless. The cord is tough and will stand up to your hardest pulls to get the tightness you want, and the lace lock off is perfect and will not slip. That said, the reason I only rated these near perfect boots is the lacing system on the liner, specifically the lock off part. The laces will pull really tight, but what takes the longest to do when putting these boots on is getting the cord to lock off! To be fair, one of the boots locks off really well, but the other boot is a struggle to get the cord to seat properly and lock off, usually requiring me to push it in.Other than that, I will definitely be sticking with Salomons!

Freakin Fantastic

Salomons are the only boots that work for my feet. I'm on my second pair of F22s and they are just insanely comfortable with no shortcomings in performace both on and off piste.

I have a narrow, low-volume foot: F22 or F24?

Either! They have about the same shape, the F22 is somewhat softer than the F24 and probably more versatile.

These boots are amazing

By:

I have worked in a snowboard shop for some years now, I have been snowboarding for over ten years too. I have never had a better boot on my foot. I will only ride these boots for the rest of my life. The lacing system comes second to none, the flex is just perfect, right in between stiff and medium. If you like your feet and if you like snowboarding I would seriously suggest buying these boots.

I've had 50+ days on multiple pairs of F22s and they're bombproof. never any leaks, stay warm. They do pack out a little faster than other boots but well worth it for how comfortable/low-profile they are.

I had close to 100 days on my first pair and am near 40 on my second pair (this model) and have never had any water leaks.

F22: Almost Awesome

By:
April 23, 2009

Salomon did a great job with the F22. I've been riding F22s for the last three years and have gone through two pairs. If the shape of the boot fits your foot, these are the most comfortable boots you are likely to put on. Low profile helps reduce toe drag, the boot is fairly warm, and the lacing system is quick. The F22 takes a few riding days to break in (it is initially quite stiff and may be hard on your calves), and this results in a delicious mid-flex boot that you can use in steeps, off cliffs, on rails... anything! Tightening the laces makes the boot quite stiff, but also cuts off my circulation.

There is just one thing I don't like about the F22s: durability. My latest pair started to fold and buckle around the ankle after about 30 days of riding. Pretty pathetic. My Salomon Malamutes have the bulk of two seasons on them and are still going strong. It might have something to do with the Fusion liner. Anyway, this always seems to happen just as the warranty runs out (1 year).

Tight

By:
December 3, 2008

The boots are super light and the liners keep my feet warm and extra snug. I've got skinny ass ankles and have had crazy heel lift in the PAST--all that's long gone! I recommend.

Best boots and I tried them all

By:
November 13, 2008

The season before last I tried on just about every top of the line boot out there. Most felt like clunky sponges or worse, were riddled with pressure points. I also noticed that many weren't able to pull the heal down very well, even the BOAs.

Then I tried the Salomons and the fit was incredible the instant I tried them on. The lacing system seemed funky (I thought I wanted BOAs) but as soon as I pulled on the handle my heal was locked in place. Absolutely no pressure points. The boots also have a very close feel to the sole. If you want low profile and great sensativity and incredible fit, the Salomons are the only thing that I can recommend at this point.

Getting ready to go the third season now, IT'S SNOWING RIGHT NOW. The boots have some wear around the lace eyes, but I think they'll last at least one more season. No comparison to my old Burton Ions. Did I say LIGHT WEIGHT. VERY. Do yourself a favor and just try the Salomons on. I knew instantly they were THE ONES.

Toe Cap Complaint

By:
December 9, 2008

Not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this. The toe cap of this years F22's is some type of suede material and has a tendency to get wet after a few runs and goes through to your socks. My friend has last years F22's and the toecap is a different material. Other than that, the boots are great for someone with big feet.

The best boots - EVER

By:
February 12, 2009

These are by far the best boots that I've ever worn. The hold my heel very well and offer substantial comfort and control. They are also fairly light and I can walk around town in them comfortably. I love the lacing system too; its the easiest one that I've used thus far. Its safe to say that I'm sold on Salomon boots after trying on this pair. I wouldn't look elsewhere - these are perfect for me.

Only boots that ever worked for me

By:
November 13, 2008

Amazing boots that fit my wide foot perfectly. No other boot has. Interestingly enough, the inner boot is "fused" to the outer boot (at least they were on the 08 model), making it impossible to make adjustments to better fit your feet. Luckily, they worked! Awesome boot with over 100 days on them and they're still truckin'.

Best boots since I started boarding 14 years ago

By:
February 4, 2009

Great ankle support. Fits my narrow heel perfectly. Works great with my S4 bindings as well as my SPX 90 bindings on two different boards. Nice stiffness, just about perfect. These boots don't get wet and breathe great. I have yet to take off my boots and them be wet inside at all. My last boots would be soaked from sweat. I barely know they are on in the parking lot drinking beer after a great day.

Slim footprint... but not enough padding

By:
February 12, 2009

These boots seem to be designed to have a small footprint for riders with large feet. The cost is much less padding in the inner boot. The fit was perfect, but my toes would get crushed on hard landings or toe-side turns.

I only rode them for a few days before going back to my cheap old Burton Freestyle boot. Backcountryoutlet was great about taking the return.
