Rossignol SAS2 120 Wide Ski Binding - 2008

Lightweight rippers and skiers who don’t need a stratospheric DIN rating use the Rossignol SAS2 120 Wide Binding to keep themselves clamped down. The SAS 120 Wide has the same Dual Action III toepiece and renowned Axial2 heel of its big siblings, providing the same secure forward pressure and knee-saving elastic travel that make Rossi / Look bindings the number-one choice for many big-air-hucking pro freeskiers. Rossignol added reinforcements to the toe housing of the SAS 120, for increased durability, more precise release, and stiffer torsional response. The Wide designation stands for the 100mm brakes, which fit over fat ski waists like elastic slacks on a Floridian pensioner.

Bottom Line: High-tech, high-performance binding without a brutal DIN.

is it true that you do not want to set your DIN near the max

is it true that you do not want to set your DIN near the max or min of the DIN range? for instance you would not want to set this binding at 11 or 12

It is highly recommended that you don't set them that high, if you need them to be at that din setting, I recommend getting a higher din binding such as a 14 or 16. The reason being that they might not release when you really need them to, or if they do, it's not going to be a harsh release. you can set these as high as 10 to be safe.

should be fine with minor "persuasion" of the brakes. I had the same with brakes on m 98mm Seth Vicious and they had a few mm clearance. All you need to do is to get a ski shop to bend them out a bit.
