Rossignol BC X3 Backcountry Boot

The Rossignol BC X3 Nordic Ski Boot is the go-anywhere do-anything boot for the skier who wants versatility. The B3 X3 Ski Boot goes with an NNN BC binding. It's burly enough to make your own trail through the woods or over a frozen lake, but it's also light enough to use in track when you don't feel like putting in the extra work to break trail. The nylon lace cover means you don't have to thaw your boots in your car before untying them at the end of a long tour. Rossignol built the BC X3 Boots with a nylon midsole which offers a compromise between power and comfort. The boots are stiff enough to control the skis while you're turning, and soft-flexing enough to be comfortable.

Bottom Line: Rossignol's BC X3 Ski Boot is made for the person that spends time both in-track and off-trail.

I tried the Rossi's with my Sierras today and was moderately impressed. I found them to be a comfortable and versatile boot. I would have liked to have seen a little more suport in the ankles. But in their defense I was doing quite a bit of off trail backcountry rough work. My biggest complaint is my zipper on one of my boots kept coming apart. However, they still kept my feet toasty, comfortable and dry, with very little ankle fatigue.

Good boot.

Most comfortable boot

By:
February 11, 2009

I've been XC skiing on and off since 1977 and this is by far the most comfortable pair of back country capable boots that I have worn. They are warm, stable and offer good ankle and lateral support. In fact, performance wise they compare favorable to my older Merrell NNN-BC (heavy) leather boots which are much stiffer, but do not offer that much of an advantage unless you are carving some steep downhill terrain.

Give me blisters

By:
February 20, 2008

I can't say much about how good the product is if it gave me some bad blisters. The cause of the blister is in the heel due to the lapping of the stitching of the plastic heel around the back of the boots. There is not much padding and as my foot slides up a little it rubs against that seam (which is in a very bad spot) I got blisters on both heel after skiing for 10 kms total while wearing fairly thick wool socks, . I was feeling it coming on around 5 kms and if I didn't have that thicker wool socks, I would of been in more discomfort. Definitely would not recommend this to anybody. To improve the boot, I would add more padding inside and lap that seam the other way.

This is a wonderful boot...I have a pair of my own...unfortunately when I ordered a pair for my wife, I neglected to take into considration that her arch is so high that she couldn't even start to zip them up...Many thanks for all your help with the return/followup....This is the way a company SHOULD do business...

run small, beware blisters

By:

These boots are awesome, except they run small and gave me wicked blisters. Thought I would get used to them, but the heel slip never faded. Although they were the size I normally wear, they felt at least a half size smaller. I didn't find them to be very warm either.

Just took up cross country sking after 30 some years. I damaged my left foot slipping off a log deer hunting about 10 years ago and was afraid I would not be able to find a boot that would allow me to ski without causing a lot of pain. These boots have great support and are as comfortable as slippers. Great product. Back on the skis having a great time.

Boots rock

By:
February 12, 2008

Full disclosure: I've only used them once, because my partner then broke her wrist and I haven't had time to go again. But she has these boots as well and we both love them.

My feet were completely toasty and the comfort was great.
