Rossignol B-Pro 90 Sensor3 Ski Boot - Women's

The Rossignol Women’s B-Pro 90 Sensor3 offers hard-charging performance that won’t beat up your feet. Advanced and expert skiers appreciate the B-Pro 90 Sensor 3’s smart compromise of comfort and performance. A women’s-specific fit incorporatesa low-cut upper cuff, a narrow ankle area, and a one-piece Pro Fit tongue and toe box to make sure cold, aching or blistered feet won’t force you to head in early. Rossignol’s Easy Entry design means that when you do decide to call it, taking off the boots won’t be a battle. Vibram soles give the B-Pro 90 Sensor 3 a secure grip everywhere from icy parking lots to rocky ridgelines.

Bottom Line: Rossignol made the B-Pro 90 Sensor 3 for skiers who want performance, not pain.

My wife is 5'10" and has larger than average calves.

My wife is 5'10" and has larger than average calves. She is an intermediate skier who rarely leaves the long groomers. Her boots kill her calves and shins. Which women's boot would be most appropriate? Or, should she try mens boots?

She shouldn't try a men's boot. The mens boots would be too tall if she has larger than average calfs. Boots are all about fit. Width of the foot is important. If she has wide feet, Nordicas tend to be wide and Technica has some wide models. If she has narrow feet, Some Salomons are narrow (scarlet, impact) and some Langes are narrow. Langes aren't as narrow as most people think they are. I tried on a lange and it was too wide. The best thing to do is to try boots on at the shop. She should plan to try on a lot of boots in the socks she plans to ski in. Never wear more than one pair of socks. Stiff boots can be made less stiff by a bootfitter, but boots can't be made more stiff. Boots can be made wider, but they can't be made narrower. Her feet should not move at all in the boot, except for wiggling the toes. Even if you decide to buy from backcountry, she should try them on in a shop first. Lower boots would be good for her. Mens boots would not be good for her at all and would cause more pain.

You cannot tell your boot size by using your height or mondo charts. I wear a size 24 mondo boot, and that corresponds to a size 6.5 shoe on the chart for my boot manufacturer, but I wear a size 8 shoe. I know someone who wears a mens 11.5 shoe, but his ski boot size is equavalent to a 7. You need to try on boots to determine your size.
