Rossignol Axial2 Freeride 150 Ski Binding - Wide - 2008

Rossignol designed the 15-DIN Axial2 Freeride 150 Wide Ski Bindings for aggressive skiers shredding the whole mountain on fat sticks. These binders feature a DIN range of 8-15, providing bomber grip for skiers who rip critical terrain where pre-releasing just isn’t an option. The Axial Freeride 150’s 100mm brakes fit over most all-mountain skis.

Bottom Line: Charge the gnar with confidence on the Rossignol Axial2 Freeride 150 Wide Ski Bindings.

These have a 100mm brake will they fit on my Coombas if i bend

These have a 100mm brake will they fit on my Coombas if i bend the breaks slightly? Is that a problem to bend the brakes or should I go for the Griffon/Jester with the wider brakes?

Some companies void any warrantee if you bend brakes out, but I'm not sure about Rossi's policy. If you don't care though, then bending brakes isn't that hard, and most specialty ski shops can do it.

It was a nice sunny day in Freeway and so I decided to 270 on to a hand rail with a switch up to backside 270 off. Being as I am no T. Wallisch I landed a bit askew and popped right out of my right ski. Bare in mind I had them set at DIN of 12 and mounted to a pair of Armada T.Halls. I am 6'2" 200lbs. So Once again, I am no Simon by any means but the moral of the story is that while landing slighly askew I totally ripped the heal piece right out from the binding which totally hosed my day since it was like ten in the morning. I did finally get a second pair after 3 months of waiting and mounted them on my rock skis. So if you're a big guy, go big and go Jester.

if you want a true hardcore binding you need something that goes up to at least 18 like the Rossignol Axial2 Freeride 200 Wide XXL Ski Binding. even if you don't crank them all the way up at least you'll have to option too

Pretty much depends on your weight and stuff, but a Marker Jester or Griffon, or any of the Look designs (Rossi is included in that) are pretty good. This one and the Look PX 15 are pretty sweet.

This binding only comes in the 100mm size brake, the 150 refers to the DIN 15 capabilities of the binding. If you need something that wide, you should look into different bindings, or different brakes you can put on it.

Awesome Binding

By: Backcountry.com Employee
November 13, 2008

Because the Axial2 Freeride 150 has more metal in it than the Axial2 140 ti..it is a much heavier binding. Having said that, it is also a much more bomber binding. There is less plastic to break on this binding. There are some new bindings out this year, like the SAS2 140 binding that would be lighter than this, and still be pretty bomber. But if you want an 8-15 DIN binding and you want it to be super strong, this binding is an awesome choice. I love how Rossignol bindings have the highest elasticity of any binding on the market, which makes you fall out of the binding less, but still allows you to come out when you need them to release.

What's the Difference between the "Rossignol Axial2

What's the Difference between the "Rossignol Axial2 Freeride 150" binding and the "Rossignol SAS2 Freestyle 150" Binding?!Are they different in color, weight, or function?

I beleive the freeride has more metal in the heel to make it stronger, which makes it heavier, a shorter mounting footprint, and is silver not white. the toe piece is the same but i think both have the upward toe release. If i'm not mistaken the freeride replaces the fks as rossie top of the line binding, and the sas2 is more of their park bindingThere is no difference except color. I own both of them. I have a pair of Axial2 freeride 150 mounted on a pair of S5's and a pair of SAS2 Freestyle 150 mounted on my Steezes.

These bindings DO have the upward release, what are you talking about? I just got a pair of these and they are super solid, although I don't recommend them for Guns, hey are too heavy for that ski, go get the marker Jester instead, they are about 1 lb lighter, the jester also has upward releaseNo, this is the single pivot race toepiece and it does NOT have upward release. Rossi/Look toepeices with upward release top out at DIN14, which is more than enough for every mere mortal.
