Redfeather Snowshoes Stride XT Snowshoe - Women's - 2008

Unisex snowshoes can force women to walk with an awkward, bowlegged, and mannish swagger. Ew. But Redfeather designed the Women’s Stride Series Snowshoe to accommodate a woman’s narrower stride and feet so you can walk with a natural, comfortable motion. The balanced hinge works with your step, lifting the tail as you raise your foot and shedding weighty snow. And Sure Grip stainless steel crampons bite into the snow for stability on hills and hardpack, so you’ll feel sure and steady. A powder coating on the crampons helps to keep snow and ice from caking on. And a quick release buckle on the heel strap makes the bindings a cinch to use—you needn’t loosen and readjust everything every time you want to take them on or off.

Bottom Line: No clomping or plodding here, thank you very much.

Would these be good snowshoes for running on packed or semi-packed

Would these be good snowshoes for running on packed or semi-packed trails? If not, are there others someone could recommend? Would the 21 or 25 inch be best? I am 5'9" and 127 lbs. Thanks!

Hi Heather,I personally haven’t had the opportunity to try Redfeather snowshoes but based on size and weight the XT would make a decent snowshoe for running. If you plan to run a lot I would recommend going with the 21 inch. Also worth checking out is the Atlas Run which I use for running in winter all the time very happy with this brand and model but it looks like backcountry.com is temporality out the Atlas Run. Hope this helps & happy shopping!

Redfeather Stride Snowshoes

By:
February 2, 2009

I use my Stride 25s on packed trails and off-trail in the woods. I can walk comfortably with a normal gait (no Frankenstein walk). I bought the 25s in case I have a pack or more gear, yet I can still run pretty easily with them (for my height/weight I could also wear 21s). In deep snow, they sometimes kick up a little snow on my back, but it doesn't bother me. The bindings stay pretty secure and the quick release buckle on the heel is handy; I have had a couple incidents of the bindings loosening, but I can tighten the straps and secure the bindings without removing my gloves.
They are well made and work well on steep terrain as well; last weekend I hiked up hill with a sheet of ice on the top and the crampons held tight.
