Whiteout conditions and sub-zero temps at basecamp demand the unparalleled warmth and protection served up by the Rab Men’s Neutrino Endurance Down Jacket. Stuffed with premium 850-fill goose down and wrapped with waterproof Pertex Endurance shell fabric, this highly weather resistant puffy keeps cold, snowy conditions at bay while you wait out the storm. Despite its massive amount of lofty warmth, the Neutrino packs down small when you’re on the move thanks to the included stuff sack.

Bottom Line: The Endurance gets you through the coldest mountain storms.
Ok, I recently purchased a Salomon Fusion at a local Marshall's store here and loved it but unfortunately it was XL and it was a bit tight on the chest area for me. I am 6'6" tall and about 260lbs.
I loved the fact that it was really puffy and the material was good quality.I am from the Cleveland area and it gets quite cold here.
Can anyone recommend a brand/model that could be equivalent to the Salomon Fusion? This Rab Neutrino Endurance seems like it can do the trick maybe?
Soooo I am having a really hard time deciding on what jacket to go with, I have the Fitz Roy down hoody, which is 800 fill but it has hardly any down in it, it has 180 grams altogether. This jacket is 850 fill with 220 grams, and they also have the Neutrino Plus jacket from RAB that has 850 or 750 with 275 grams of down. The other one I was looking at is the Peak XV jacket from First Ascent which is really cheap, and has 850 fill down too.. I live in Fairbanks, AK and its my first winter here, and its been around -35 so far and i just want something with enough down in it, because I HATE when companies make you pay all the money for the down fill power but no down itself. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME! lol thanks!
I got 5 different jackets and this jacket came out on top. Too many good features to beat: - This jacket has the highest fill down (850), while most others had 800. Not that big of a deal. - A hood that isn't over sized and can be cinched around your head leaving no cold spots. - A near-waterproof finish. Only MHW Sub-Zero had something more than DWR. - Light weight... a couple of the other jackets were lighter, but only slightly. - A shell that can actually stand up to some abuse... although not as beefy as MHW Sub.
Basically, I couldn't find anything wrong with this jacket aside from the strange looking bill on the hood.
FYI - I got these jackets and would rank them in this order: Rab Neutrino Endurance Patagonia Fitz Roy Marmot Greenland Mountain Hardwear Sub-Zero SL Jacket Marmot Ama Dablam (not enough down for what i was looking for)
I'm looking for a coat that does what the Rab Neutrino can do but isnt puffy. My husband works outside and drives and can't be in any of a bind. He is needing one that will stand up to extreme cold but the thinnnest I can get.
Two thoughts here: first, I tried on the Cloudveil Koven Down Plus jacket, and it is incredibly warm and reasonably minimal bulk. Basically, it's a quilted down jacket inside a hardshell. To me, it was too much jacket for anything active in the temperatures that I will typically see, so maybe it would be appropriate for him. My second thought is that he might want to try on something like this jacket or maybe a Mountain Hardwear Subzero Parka or Jacket - sized correctly I've never really thought of them as being particularly restrictive. My bigger concern is that the face fabric on these jackets will not be as durable as something like the Koven Plus Down Jacket. Hope that helps!
I have this jacket (black Rab Neurtrino Endurance). It really is BLACK with a very very light shine to it. All of the pics on internet (here and everywhere else) use the same pic. It's inaccurate because it makes the jacket look grey with black zippers. In actuality, it is a true black with waterproof zippers that are even a darker black. It's a GREAT jacket. I've had mine for 3 years now. I found this UK brand online before it was available in any US store. Simply my favorite jacket.
I've been reading about this jacket, and it seems to be what I'm looking for. But if you where to recommend alternatives, what would they be? ($200 -$300, Water-/weatherproof, suitable for a Norwegian winter, both daily and mountain use)
And what size? I'm 178 cm an 65 kg, skinny/normal buildt.
Marmot Greenland. More expensive but your money is all going towards more down fill, it has 325 g down vs 220 g for the Rab. It has almost the same down weight to total weight ratio just a warmer jacket. For the what the Rab Neutrino Endurance is though it is the best I've seen out there.
