Ruffwear Bark'n Boots Grip Trex - Set of 4 - 2007

The Ruffwear Bark'n Boots Grip Trex protect your pooch's paws with durable Vibram soles when the going gets ruff. This set of four doggy boots offers breathable mesh uppers. If Rex has a fondness for water, the Bark'n Boots drain well, so he won't be slogging around in wet boots all day and they'll stay securely on his paws thanks to webbing cinch closures. Reflective hits increase Fido's visibility in low light situations.*Check Sizing Chart to find the right size boot for your pooch.

Bottom Line: Don't hit the trail without your four-legged friend and a set of Bark'n Boots Grip Trex.

Works Great! on the trail

These boots work wonders for my aging shepard who drags his hind legs and wears down his toenails and the tops of his back feet. I have had no problem with them falling off but did have to go down a size from a large to a medium. I do worry about pressure points around where they tighten so we do not use them for long outings, I just put them on when he gets tired and starts to drag. I tried them in the snow but the back filled with snow and looked uncomfortable. I have yet to find a good dog snow boot.

The BEST boots

By:
September 16, 2008

I am a backpacker and a veterinarian. We have sold a lot of different types of booties in our vet hospital and I have heard all the typical downfalls of other booties. These Ruffwear booties are by far superior and well worth the $. I backpacked with my dog over 300 miles this summer and these boots literally saved our trip. I used the boots in rocky or tough sections or on days when we did a lot of mileage. I also gave a set away to some fellow hikers whose dog had damaged all his pads and was having difficulty walking. With the padded boots on this dog was actually prancing at the end of a 14 mile day of hiking. With any bootie it is wise to check your dogs feet for wear areas or "hot spots" every hour or so.
I was equally as happy with the ruffwear palisades dog pack. I've tried quite a few dog packs and this one got hard use for 5 straight weeks of hiking. Awesome.

I want to buy some little boots for my Springer Spaniel for walking

I want to buy some little boots for my Springer Spaniel for walking around corral surfaces on cays. Does anyone know how these stand up to those types of surfaces, or if they come off the paws easily while their feet are wet?

Better off with some wax

My 80 pound golden retriever doesn't like these, but he can't type. Tucker gets way too much snow packed into these or they fall off. When they fall off, we frequently lose them in the soft pow.

I bought these for the snow (and the cold pavement that comes with it). They are awesome in the cold.Just don't be afraid to tighten them down real good or you'll be waiting for the spring thaw to find that missing shoe. My dog loves em (after a few mins of some very funny looking walking that makes tourists and neighbors laugh out loud).

Love The Boots But ?

By:

I love these boots for my little Boston but they don't always stay on and I am not sure how they could improve them but I like the way these are made than any other dog boots.

Great protection for paws

By: Backcountry.com Employee

We used these down in Moab, Utah in Negro Bill's Canyon. They went on super easy and the Velcro straps kept them in place but didn't overly tighten and cut off circulation. He walks really funny for about 10 minutes until he gets used to them being there, but then you could tell he loved them. The sand and rock was really hot going down the trail but it wasn't a problem and the Vibram soles gripped to the rock so well that I had to run up them to keep up with Zeppelin as he had no problem what so ever going up the slick rocks. Great piece of gear to get for your dog to make them a bit more comfy on long hikes.

Great Dog Shoe

By: Backcountry.com Employee
May 31, 2007

Now, I'm not one of those kinds of people that buys all kinds of crap for my dog cause he is like my kid, but London runs until his paws literally become hunks of raw and bleeding flesh. I figured that I would give my dog a little help in combating pain and torture for the next few days after a mountain bike ride and buy him some dog shoes. After trying many other brands, this shoes is BY FAR the best! The shoe stops at the first joint of his leg so it doesn't get all funky after a few strides. It stays on phenomenally well, I only had to readjust one of the shoes after a few minutes because I didn't put it on tight enough the first time. He ran for miles and his feet were pristine when we were done biking. The only complaint that London had was that his feet got hot, he kept standing in every river there was along the way. Watch for rocks getting in the shoes if he does do that, but overall he seemed pretty happy. Great investment as I won't have to buy any more bandages for him to chew off. Though he did a pretty funny dance when I first put them on, he did eventually get used to them.
