Rossignol Sick Bird Telemark Ski - 2005

If hitting backcountry kickers and skiing big-mountain pow is your thing, then Rossignol's Sick Bird is the ultimate ride. These monster twintips have a fat waist for floating the deep stuff and a big platform for hucking your way to a badass belt buckle. With a 128/98/121mm sidecut and a stiff flex, the Sick Birds can lay down turns from Alaska to your local backcountry stash (if it's not Alaska) to your favorite resort. Rossignol put 30-degree sidewalls on the Sick Birds to keep swing weight down and make it easier to initiate turns in soft snow. Rossignol's THC (triple hybrid core) keeps the boards light and torsionally rigid while dampening vibrations so you can count on solid edge hold in variable conditions.

Bottom Line: A burly ride for sick terrain.

Sick Bird - Sick Ski!

By:
March 29, 2006

The best ski I've been on. Stable at high speeds, great for steeps, cuts through crud, but the true home of this ski is in the powder, and living 20 minutes from the Wasatch Mountains there has been no shortage of this for my ski's this season. Only complaint is on hard pack and ice, it's a little wide underfoot for these conditions, but hey that's not why you buy this ski in the first place. Highly recommend this ski for those that truly want to ski big lines hard and fast.

Twin Tips??

By:
March 22, 2006

I don't know about the twin tips, but these Sick Birds are great skis!! I bought a pair of T4s last year and having both skis is perfect. The Sickbirds turn quicker than the T4s and are more stable on hard back. I still love the T4s in powder because they are so soft and smooth. The Sickbirds in a 185 ski great everywhere, including the bumps. They are especially good in powder bumps. Try the Sickbirds and ignore the ski salesman who don't actually ski and buy the ski and use it as your only ski. It has enough side cut and stability to do it all!!

This is what I have been looking for.

By:
February 28, 2006

I have spent the past several seasons looking for an everyday ski that can do it all. It pounds through crud, floats in powder, and carves on groomers. This ski combines forgiveness with the ability to charge hard at speed. I mounted mine up alpine because I liked the retro graphics over the graphics of the bc. Great ski and can't wait to ride it again.

Bird is the Werd!

By:
February 15, 2006

This is my one and only ski. It takes care of me on the groomers and it keeps me afloat in the POW, bro. For my Telemark style, I like a stiff ski that can absorb the shock of any mogul or barricade. The Sick Bird is definitely a stiff ski. Thus, we make the perfect couple. I love these skis and I haven't even told my girlfriend that I love her.

Even good on hardpack

By:

Best ski I've been on in crud. As you can imagine, it’s great in powder and even holds well carving on hardpack, though a little slow side-to-side. It’s a fun, great ski.

Don't forget AT

I set up a pair of these with Fritschis this year and love them. I've only skied them in Utah pow so far but they ski very predictably, and are smooth and damp. A bit heavy if you're a weight weenie, but that's why I got these: my previous skis were so light they chattered to death on hardpack/crust.

Only complaint so far is what seems to be a weak base - got a big coreshot already and I didn't even notice hitting a rock, but I've never been easy on my bases.

And of course the graphics rock.
