Petzl William Ball Lock Carabiner - 2005

The William Ball Lock Carabiner is an auto locking version of the popular William Lock Carabiner. It is an excellent belay biner for use with belay/rap devices and the high volume makes it easy to use when tying a munter hitch directly from an anchor point. Its large size & pear shape allow the rope to invert easily when icy or muddy conditions exist.

Bottom Line: The Petzl William Ball Lock Carabiner is the ultimate choice for auto locking belay carabiners.

great for belaying

I like this biner for the ease of locking and the overall size. One of my concerns is that the lock does not come completely cover the top of the gate, it leaves some space (maybe a millimeter). I also do not like the fact that the lock is plastic, which if used incorrectly could break. I know it sounds like I am dogging this, however, the relative weight, and Petzel’s gate, make this a worthwhile purchase.
