Remove the Petzl TacTikka XP Adapt Headlamp's housing from its headband and mount it on your helmet, belt, or wherever you need to adapt to your situation. This Petzl headlamp has all the excellent features of the TacTikka XP such as a high-power LED, boost mode for 50% power increase, tiltable housing, and a super-low weight of only 4oz. However, the XP Adapt easily attaches to the elastic headband, helmet clip, or belt clip. This allows you to place the light exactly where you want it, without hassle. Hang the belt clip in your tent for off-your-head lighting, and clip the light to your helmet for the summit push at 2:00am.
Bottom Line: Lightweight, versatile lighting brought to you by the Petzl TacTikka XP Adapt Headlamp.
I've had my TacTikka XP Adapt since Christmas and it has been great. The lowest level of light is great for navigation and the zoom is perfect to prevent getting cliffed out. It is nice and compact. The only down side is that you can't use lithiums.
ive used the energizer AAA lithiums in mine for the last 8 months without issue. they are MUCH brighter and last at least 2x longer than the regular AAA.
There is a red one in the lighting unit out of the box, then you have green and blue which are extra. Petzl's site shoes it also comes with a clear one however, I couldn't see a clear one in any of the packaging.
how do you change the diffuser??? It came with the red in, I've got 2 more colors and something in the holder on the headband...probably the wide angle...but I can't find any directions on how to change these
If you take a look at the bottom of the unit (not the back where the batteries are, but he part of the light that would be the closest to your forehead if you had it on), you will see a small indention for pulling up the frame. Just pry that up, remove the frame, and change out the diffuser.
Different power levels? Check. Decent battery life? Check. Uses normal batteries? Check. 3 Colored filters and a wide angle? Check. Multiple mounting options? Check. Tilt? Check. Light weight? Check. Free? Well, I guess one cannot have everything!
The clips you see here are the latest clips for this model. The rectangular one is a pocket clip for when the lamp is detached from the headband. The round one is the new helmet mount, it is sticky on the other side. These are easy to swap in and out.
I finally upgraded from my old Petzl headlamp to this one, and have been stoked about this model. The beam is more than bright enough to work from, and it can deliver an extra bit of light using the second button for short amounts of time. Using the red diffuser at night protects your night vision. Accessory clip lets you attach the light perfectly as if it were a fixture within your tent.
Awesome piece of kit as usual, especially for me as need a direct able hands free lighting system that goes straight from the head, clip it off and can go straight onto my rucksack. Couldn't ask for more unless they could do a myo rxp version of the adapt!
It is light and bright. It is very adjustable, the brightness is adjustable also. It also comes with a belt clip and helmet clip. Being able to change it to red light is great for a late night trip in the woods. Great Buy.
Petzl TacTikka XP Adapt Headlamp is really outstanding. I would highly recommend this headlamp above all others. It is lightweight, compact, and comfortable. The high-output single LED headlamp with colored wide-angle lenses are really awesome.
After losing my previous XP, I went through a couple of other headlamps that I picked up cheap on SAC. Even though I still have those, I went back to the TacTikka XP this year. It's just a great headlamp - very comfortable, bright, long battery life, and I really like the colored light diffusers that are included. I leave the red one in and use it for late night reading when someone else in the tent is trying to sleep.
On this lamp, the top strap is kind of useless (not to mention dorky), so I broke mine off. Still works like a champ.
I second all the other reviews. I bought this more to be shoulder-strap mountable, ala the XP Adapter kit. If I had a complaint, it could stand to be a tad brighter as I still have to carry a high-intensity hand-held.
Amended: After using this for a year, I will still say that I was expecting it to be brighter. Batteries didn't last as long as I expected from an LED either. Lowered my rating from 5 to 4 stars.
This is my first "upper-end" headlamp and especially appreciate the focused beam that can be diffused with a very nicely designed diffuser lens--giving you the best of both worlds. The "blast" feature is also pretty sweet--giving you that last ounce of light for looking deep into the forest at something. Great lamp.
this little baby will light your way and then some. different colored filters, multiple brightness levels and multiple mounting platforms. what else could one ask for?
Awesome light. I used one in Afghanistan and it was great for inspecting aircraft on wide setting and powerful enough on spot setting to use as a helmet lamp, which kept me from riding my bicycle into concertina wire that had been dragged into the road.
I have been wanting the Tikka XP ever since I saw my buddies in use on a trip this past summer. The Tac part of the TacTikka is for the 4 different colors of diffusers that it comes with. White, Red, Blue, Green. It even comes with a little holder for a spare diffuser that mounts on the headband. One goes in the light the other in the holder. I like the red. Super cool. The Adapt part is pretty cool as well. It is a modular system that allows different mountings for your lamp. It comes with a headband attachment, a helmet attachment, and a belt/jacket clip attachment as well. Very much increases the utility of this already useful tool. Great thinking Petzl!
