Petzl Quark Ergo Hammer - 2005

Leashless tools are changing faster than the three-eyed fish on the Simpsons. It seems that every winter a dozen new designs come out. While other tools are trying to catch up, the Petzl Quark Ergo Ice Tool has been proving itself for years at competitions and on the hardest mixed routes around the world. The staggered-grip design on this leashless ice tool allows easy matching, long reaches, steinpulls, and other technical maneuvers required for cutting-edge mixed climbing. Concentrating the weight of the tool on the head gives it better penetration in ice, so after 40 feet of mixed climbing, the ice will still be the easy part.
