The Petzl Myo 3 Headlamp features dual light sources: either a Xenon halogen or standard 6V bulb and 3 LED's. The Myo 3 is suitable for users who need the advantages of both a bright, long-range beam (100m Xenon halogen) and efficient LED lighting for smaller ranges (15m). It's ideal for all outdoor sports enthusiasts. The Petzl Myo series of high-performance headlamps will satisfy even the most discriminating user, from the casual to the extreme. Compact and lightweight, the Myo lamps are only half the size of traditional headlamps, but much more powerful. Petzl headlamps use the highest LEDs available, providing brilliant white light for over 100,000 hours of continuous burn time—we challenge you to exhaust that! The tilting head and adjustable beam allow you to fine tune illumination. The rotating bezel switch is easy to operate with a gloved hand, and locks so it doesn't turn on and waste the batteries in your pack.
Survived a 170 foot fall in the Kingston Mines. Spotlight is really bright LEDs are excellent. A little big and heavy for the light hiker but overall an extremely well built light.
I use this lamp on extended initial attack during wildland fire and flagging dozer line at night. People with standard government issue lamps always ask where I got the headlamp - because it's 2x brighter than thiers. It even stays bright on government issue batteries. That, in itself, is an acheivement. I beat this headlamp up at work and while playing, and it keeps on shining. Highly recommended. Petzl made a great product.
I purchased this for adventure racing and have no complaints about it. It stayed on my head and was easily adjustable when I needed to put it around my bike helmet (even after hour 22 of a race when you don't have much brain power left). The LEDs are bright enough for use while biking on road and in the woods and if you need to pin point something in the distance the halogen is basically a mini spot. I am not sure about a few of the descriptions that say it can go 100 yards but I could definitely pin point a control at about 30 meters without a problem. I also like the fact that the halogen beam can be spread if needed. The Myo 5 has two more LEDs but honestly, I wouldn't spend the extra $40 for them (I'd spend $20 maybe) because I was able to ride through the woods and feel fairly confident that I wouldn't hit anything.

I am using the myo3 headlamp for electric wiring that I do, and I wish I had one a long time ago. It could be brighter but I liked the long time on the batteries, so had to compromise some. I don't use the halogen much but it is there if I want it for longer distances. I am in dark corners and panels and it is most helpful. Good product.
2 reasons to buy this headlamp: the long battery life afforded by the LED lights, and the tiltable lamp housing. I use it for electronics applications, such as working on computers, home entertainment setups, and working behind my recording studio. All of which have cables everywhere, and having good lighting and both hands free are essential. I was worried that the battery housing might be uncomfortable, but it wasn't the case. The headlamp is quite comfortable and provides a secure fit. I have another headlamp, a Streamlight Argo, which has a frustratingly short (and expensive) battery life. My Petzl is a major upgrade.
I use this headlamp for fishing from the cliffs of Hawaii. It is very comfortable to wear and has an excellent battery life. The focusing xenon lamp is its best feature for my use. The only complaint is that the glare can affect my vision, while using the L.E.D's.
I love this headlamp! The LED's last forever and provide plenty of light for most activities, and where they fail, there's a xenon halogen bulb to brighten up your night also. The light focuses, so you can broaden your visibility, or lay an intense beam on a critter of some kind. Everyone should have a headlamp in their car incase of a flat tire at night - I recommend the MYO 3!
