Petzl Mini Prusik Minding Pulley

Glacier travel and crevasse rescue call for the specially designed Petzl Mini Prusik Minding Pulley. This 2.8-ounce pulley uses a flat bottom profile to keep your prusik knot from being sucked inside, so you don't have to sacrifice a member of the rescue team to this minimal but essential task. Properly used, the Petzl Mini Prusik Minding Pulley can also facilitate solo rescues that would otherwise be nearly impossible without a partner to watch the prusik knot.

Bottom Line: Don't set foot on a glacier without the Petzl Prusik Minding Pulley.

I use this along with the mini traxion in a 3-1 if I a really good mechanical advantage. If I want to go light weight then I can ditch the traxion and use this along with a prussik. Very smooth operation.

I'm heading to WA for crevasse rescue school this Summer

I'm heading to WA for crevasse rescue school this Summer and need a pulley. I don't fully understand the concept of "prusik minding," but it seems that the pulleys with this feature all have rectangular plates. Does that make this a better choice than the Petzl Rescue Pulley for crevasse rescue?

Prusik minding is nice other wise someone has to stand there and keep the prusik from jaming the pulley. you will learn more this summer but i like prusik minding pulleys to free one more person up.

Versatile pulley

I've had this pulley for about six weeks. I like the high efficiency of the Mini; it's a definite advantage over using a krab at the turn of the rope when rigging a z-system or even a 1:2. It runs smoother than the Petzl Fixe and the Ultra Legere. The fact that it will mind the prussik on those occasions when I choose to use one has not gone unappreciated. I own a collection of pulleys and this model is quickly becoming my favourite. Whether using a prussik not or not, if hauling or as a lightweight, rescue item, this is an excellent pulley to have and I strongly recommend it.

Works great

I use the Petzl Pro Traxion Pulley for hauling and then use the "Petzl Mini Prusik Minding Pulley" for second and third pullies when rigging for 3-to-1 mechanical advantage. The Petzl minis are good for this purpose as they have very high efficiency rating. I am basically using the Mini's for scenario where locking pulley is not needed (no prusik involved)
