Petzl MYO 3 Headlamp - 2008

Petzl gave the MYO 3 noir Headlamp an ultra-bright Xenon halogen bulb to aid nighttime route finding on complicated terrain and three LED bulbs to save battery power for close-up work. Whether you're alpine climbing or hanging around camp at night, this Petzl headlamp provides just the right amount of lighting with an impressive 130-hour battery life on economy mode. You can also adjust the MYO 3 noir Headlamp's bezel to focus light on distant objects, like the next rappel station a full pitch below you.

Bottom Line: Light up the mountainside with the Petzl MYO 3 noir Headlamp.

A twist of the bezel on your MYO turns it on/off and adjusts the focus of the beam from spot to flood(zooming). The bezel is also used to select either the LED or the xenon halogen beam. From the «off» position, turning the bezel lights the LED first for energy-efficient proximity lighting, then the xenon halogen bulb for long-range powerful lighting. The zoom function allows the xenon halogen beam to be adjusted from spot to flood. The MYO lamps allow the the light to be optimized (distance, duration) according to your needs.

i've used this light in many adventure races and ultramarathons. it's bomber. it's bright. i also think petzl has mastered the angling of the light unit. it's easy and affective and i have never seen or heard of them wearing out. great light. with led and halogen you can't go wrong because it's got the amount of light you'll need for everything.

Frozen Light

By:
May 3, 2009

We had a very bad ice storm in my area this year, knocked out our power for 11 days and the ice busted valves on my propane take and it leaked completely empty. So it was a bit of an emergency to get the trucks down the dirt road which we spent 16-18 hours a days for three days to get to black top. Ice was coming down on us the entire time, and this lamp never one time failed me, it was plenty enough light to run my chainsaw safely, and the Halogen is 90 feet plus, I used it to direct tractor help all night. This lamp is amazing it froze to my hard hat many times and I never had any trouble at all. CRAZY story GREAT PRODUCT!!!

The electrical connection has come loose somewhere inside the lamp head on my MYO 3, so the light flickers on and off. Anyone know how to take that apart so I can solder it back together? There are small discs on each side of the lamp pivot point that appear to have dimples intended for some kind of small tool, but I don't have it and can't get the discs to turn.

Sam, if you got the headlamp from Backcountry there is a totally open return policy. Otherwise, send it to Petzl. They'll hook you up. Wouldn't want you to electrocute yourself.

I purchased the Petzl MYO 3 headlamp for my wilderness excursions in the backcountry of Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho. Great product. Fits very comfortably on head and helmet. Very bright LED's. No complaints here.
