Petzl Fin'Anneau Sling

The Petzl Fin'Anneau Sling's thin 8mm diameter reduces bulk on long routes where you need to carry a dozen or more. Their low weight allows you to bring a few extra to reduce rope drag on those meandering pitches. Thanks to Dyneema material, the Petzl Fin'Anneau Sling soaks up very little moisture, so you can take them into the mountains without risk of their becoming popsicles at the worst possible time.

Bottom Line: Use the Petzl Fin'Anneau Slings when you need to shave weight.

Good, but BDs are better

I have used a few of these for a while...i think the BD dynex runners are more durable and are virtually the same size and weight

Good enough

I would recommend for some some sport climbing routes where you need the occassional sling. I have several of each size of these and they hold up really well, and the 180 does work as a back up or replacement for the cordelette.

Not So Durable

By:
March 23, 2009

I bought two of these slings (30 cm) alongside two wild country dyneema slings, and these have worn noticeably faster. lots of fuzzing and stretching as compared with the WC slings, and after less than a year and only about 70 pitches they need to be replaced. i also have a BD dynex 60 cm that's wearing much more gradually.

Good, but go Mammut if have option

By:
April 10, 2009

I thought I'd just buy this one to see if I was missing out with all my 8mm Mammut Dyneema Contact Slings. I'm not. This is more expensive and the weave is more apt for snagging, and the biggest drawback is the sewn connection. It's big and stiff and has no cover like the Mammut, which makes racking more difficult. The Mammut essentially feels like a smooth continuous loop. Other than that, it's the closest thing to the Mammut I've seen and is a close second.

The 180 Is Fantastic

By:
January 13, 2009

I have the 180cm version. I use it once in a while as a REEEEEALLY long sling, but more often as a lightweight cord substitute. It knots/unknots easily and is less bulky than cord. It's not ideal for adventure climbing where you might need to cut up your cord in an emergency, but is perfect for cragging.

good sling

weight is almost non-existent, resilient and durable, and like all slings a wide variety of uses and functions.
